I have the NS6 and I have tried Serato DJ.
I'm just not feelin it.
It looks nice but it has ISSUES!!!
Sound issues
Hardware issues
Functionality issues
These things being true, It would be GREAT is Serato picked up on itch again.

If you have issues with Serato DJ, open a help request and get them sorted. When it's running correctly, it makes Itch look like a bad joke.

I have two open tickets.
The issues are functionality and sound.
Many people are having issues with sdj and the workflow is inferior to itch.
The gain structure in sdj is bad. The mic on ns7 does not work at all. Opening crates and subcrates doors not work. Meters not working right along with a host of other issues that are not fixable.
Those fixes require another update and serato had confirmed the issues and say they will be fixed in upcoming releases.
Is sad that a software as good as serato is having such a hard time making their flagship software for controllers at least as good as the software it replaces.

Lucky that Itch still works then...
Serato DJ IS the next version of Itch. 1.2 is the first version for your controller, so there will be bugs. The SX took a couple of versions before it was totally sweet.
And unlike SX users, you do have the option to carry on using Itch until you're happy with SDJ. Seems like a good result to me...

City,
I have an NS6 and its working great. Grant it there are still feature issues (color of played tracks) and some minor edits that will happen. But as far as playing goes it's great. What issues are u having?

I went over to the help section of SDJ and WOW!!!!
I think it will be quite some time before I try SDJ again,
They are having MAJOR problems.
I have had issues with itch but they have been minor issues.
SDJ has VERY MAJOR SHOWSTOPPING issues for a lot of people.
I still think serato should put a team back on itch because it's gonna be a loooooong time till SDJ can equal itch.

How so? Not to be argumentative, but for my DDJ-S1, I'm disappointed with the current state of SDJ, and it has plenty of kinks to iron out as well as workflow features removed or not documented clearly at all.
I talked myself into taking SDJ out for two full nights out this past weekend; a crash course to get used to the changes. On top of filing three tickets (one is probably addressed - the FX buttons blink only in one FX mode, supposedly by design (huh?) ), my Record button refused to light up one night. I miss having headphone cues automatically activate on deck load. Gain structure is a mess (limiter activates on my screen, but the LEDs on my mixer are plenty clear of the reds, so which one do I trust now?) I had a few heart-stopping audio drop-outs, as well.
I'll try and test this soon, but a couple of times, I got no noticeable audio response at all from the FX alternating modules (sometimes one would be unresponsive, or the other, but the screen showed evidence of my input. And yes, I made sure they were assigned to the correct channel, etc. If I can verify this as a bug, I'll submit a report for that, too.
I was really looking forward to SDJ, and hopefully it'll live up to its promise on DDJ-S1 after an update or two, as you suggest. For now, I'm gonna have to stick with ITCH to play out.

Loving sdj! Much better than itch! Sound quality is better and fx and having more info. And being able to add midi controllers.
Sdj has been a big improvment for me with the vci-380.
Yes there is stuff missing from sdj that is in SSL & ITCH. But not show stopping stuff for me.
But i do agree and hope they get these features all added back in asap!!!

I'm happy it's working for you but for a hell of a whole lot of people, It's not the answer.
I've seen you on the help threads for SDJ and there are some showstopping problems with sdj.
Serato DJ is not as good as itch. Not yet. Not by a longshot.
Too many bugs, too many problems, too many issues and not enough features.

Ya i report any thing i find and also features i want but for me itch was bug fest sdj is miles better for me. You wont see people come onto a forum to say hey sdj works fine.
I know a few djs that use sdj and they love it.
Sure its frustrating they didnt add all the features from itch and ssl.
Apart from the large database issue which itch 2.2.2 has.
Its been good, just a few controller bugs/mapping issues to overcome.
Not good you find it sooo bad compaired to itch.

I'm talking only for NS6: SDJ is dope ! Don't care about new fonctionnalities or FX.
Just don't want to loose what we had on itch with the NS6. So for the moment: i'm only djing with Itch or SSL. With SDJ NS6 has lost many options.

Is hard for me to understand when people defend sdj when there are so many problems and so many missing functions.
If it works for you fine. But for the many people that it does not work for, it needs to be fixed.
Some users have no mic.
Most users have gain issues.
Limiter comes on at will.
Creates and subcrates can't be expanded
Audio drop outs and clicks
No sampler trigger
Harder to use fx's
No daytime mode
Video viwe is a step backwards
Just check the help threads.

Adding,
> can't map loop rolls on midi controller
>Using loops are diffrent between itch and sdj (on sdj you must hold SHIFT botton to make a loop rool: that's silly ! So you can't make different loops rools and manipulate the crossfader at the same like in itch: sorry i don't have 3 hands :-(
> The mapping time for the loops rolls are different: in sdj 1/1 loop rool don't exist any more ! and agin: it's not mapple.
All mapping functin are availaible on SSL so Serato know how to do it !
>No Beta test version: SDJ came out with a lot of big bugs and missing functions. SDJ has not been developped like a real Serato product ! That's a shame for Pro users like us.

Saying improved fx are harder is a little silly there better improved on just play around sure you will get used to it in time.
Cant map loop rolls erm you cant map NOTHING in ITCH.
Yes does seem like alot of mappings have changed but i guess its because its with a different software, was made for itch not sdj so i guess the mappings would be better in itch however it is great for people to complain and put there reason why it should be changed like you say using three hands is not ideal.
They just need some more user feedback i guess on how they have changed things.
Be good to e-mail support@serato.com with all the issues you have and mapping changes and explain how the mapping made more sence in itch than it does in serato dj.
I know the ns6 they made some changes to so i'm sure they will the ns7 aswel.
Sure dj is fine for me but i asked for a list because i'm on the forum loads so good to see what list each users comes up with, you do start to see what is used the most and how it can be improved on.
Like i said its not perfect but then itch was NEVER perfect and sdj is damn good just gotta hold out till all the controllers are supported and then they can roll out all these mapping issues much quicker.
Usb dropouts is something i see in itch and sdj and i like you hope they get these knocked down quicker.
As for beta this is true i guess again they are waiting till all controllers are supported and then will most likly run the betas again.
I guess itch users are lucky sdj was free so they have not lost nothing and can always go back to itch.
So anymore things in detail that are better in itch than sdj?
Cheers Woolsey.

Are you coming from itch or dj intro?
Itch is not as refined as dj but dj has more issues and less functionality. Dj's workflow is cumbersome compared to the workflow of itch.
Dj is a step up from intro. It may be a step up from itch sometime in the future but right now it's not the answer for many itch users.

SSL > ITCH > SDJ. Would not even piss on SDJ Intro lol.
SDJ has advanced Fx sound quality is in no question far better than ITCH.
SDJ you can midi map other controllers. (Slicer / loop rolls you can not) ITCH you can not map another device at all.
SDJ has 8cues and 8loops you can choose how they trigger.
SDJ now has a look very close to ssl and you can now see the time and details of all cues and loops. On ITCH you could not see this info as itch was supper limited scalled back.
SDJ has just added/still adding controllers things will improve. Itch they always got worse! With updates.
SDJ for the vci-380 anyway, included more options, Slicer, Manual loops, better fx control. Itch had none of these.
But yes there is stuff in itch that is lost in sdj.
I am very happy with sdj and so are the ten thousands who have got an SX and are happy.
You just need to push for the mapping changes to your controllers and also goto the feature area and +1 any things listed that are missing from SDJ.
I made some there is alot of things i wish was in sdj.
But no way would i go back to itch never.
Maybe at home you should give sdj abit more of a try and get used to it.

I think for the Vestax 380 SDJ is better than itch.
For the Pioneer DDJ SX, SDJ is the only option
Fot the Numark NS6, NS7, SDJ is some garbage. Itch KILLS SDJ on these controllers. At least for now.

Serato acknowledged the mistakes and suggested some users use itch until they sort things out.
There are a LOT of BIG problems with SDJ but i'm glad it's working out for you.

That's exactly what i think.
> All my tests and results have been communicated to the team to explain difference between Itch and SDJ.
I always give them an example to explain what we loose in performance with ns6 with sdj.
>In Itch, i don't need midi mapping, all fonctionnalyties of Itch are available on the NS6.
> Itch with the new isotope FX will be fine for me: no more lol
>Honestly for me on SDJ, the first missing options are:
Openning & and Closing crate/subcrate, the remapping of loop rolls, enable ALL midi mapping functions like in SSL. With these points, i will gig with SDJ.
For now i have more power on my gigs with Itch.
@DJ City, I'm waiting for NS7 (maybe for september) but if sdj don't change as we can use all the functions of NS7 like NS6, i will keep my NS6 with Itch.

I am looking at the NS7 II as well.
I had a NS7 and loved it but it died. I replaced it with the NS6 ehich I also love but not as much as I loved my NS7.
I am really hoping that SDJ will work CORRECTLY with the NS7II.
I will wait and see.
I am keeping my NS6 with Itch though.

If it works for you fine. But for the many people that it does not work for, it needs to be fixed.
Some users have no mic.
Most users have gain issues.
Limiter comes on at will.
Creates and subcrates can't be expanded
Audio drop outs and clicks
No sampler trigger
Harder to use fx's
No daytime mode
Video viwe is a step backwards
Just check the help threads.
Don't forget the Power vs Linear crossfader annoyance.
