Hi DJ Bam,
It is absolutely fine to use Scratch Live and Serato DJ on the same computer, your Rane hardware will continue to work with Scratch Live as per usual. Also your music library will be compatible across all our applications.
Let me know if this helps,
Cheers, Sam

Hey DJ BAM,
Can you please provide me with your complete computer specs? serato.com
A couple things to try to reduce the load on your CPU:
Remove any other USB devices you have connected to your laptop. Try connecting your controller to another USB port and try using a different USB cable. Also if you have any background programs running that aren't necessary shut them down before opening Serato.
You should also try increasing your USB buffer size by going to Setup > Hardware > USB BUFFER SIZE (Latency) and moving the slider to the right.
Let me know if that helps,
Cheers, sam

Hey DJ Bam,
For us to get further into sorting out your issue you will need to try and get your computer's specs for me. there is a step by step guide here: serato.com which gives nice basic instructions with diagrams to help you get the info.
Do try increasing your buffer size all the way to the right to see if that does help with your issue.
As far as I know that that function still works in Serato DJ. What you may want to try is making sure that in Serato under "Setup" > "DJ Preferences" > "Control Preferences" you have ticked "Playback Keys Use Shift", then try it.
Cheers, Sam

Exactly what I needed :)
Alright, this might explain some of the problems that you are having. Serato does not officially support computers with AMD processors due to the amount of problems that can occur with them. If you read this article here there are a few workarounds you can try: serato.com
We can still try and help you out though,
First try removing any USB devices such as a USB mouse or an external drive before you have a mix.
Also did you try increasing your buffer size all the way to the right to see if that helps with your issue? (try moving it up to 1024)

Hey DJ BAM,
Do you use an external harddrive or any other USB devices when mixing? In some cases that can affect your connection to the controller

Yes I do use a external hard drive that's where all my music is on someone told me that I might need to add more memory or gigs I guess from making my computer from running so much juice

Hey DJ BAM,
Try moving ten or fifteen tracks from your USB harddrive over to your internal harddrive. Now disconnect your external harddrive. Have a mix and let me know if the CPU light is still flashing.
Also when the light flashes does your audio cut out at all?
Cheers, Sam

Well well I tried it and I'm still getting the CPU light I adjusted the USB buffer to the highest point I even added more ram yesterday I tried the way you recently told me as well so right now now what I can admit when I did try today the music didn't slow down or click like it used to but just with that CPU flashing bothers me

Hey DJ BAM
It sounds like we are making a little bit of progress here, its good that you can use the controller without audible dropouts now!
Now you should check this guide here serato.com . Even though your AMD processor is not supported by Serato eliminating background processes that are putting stress on your CPU may eventually bring the load down to a level that will not trigger the warning light in the Serato interface.
Have a go with the guide I linked and let me know if you need a hand with any of the steps,
Cheers, Sam

Hey DJBAM,
We'll start with a couple of the basic steps first to see how we go, first we got to make background services a priority for your CPU:
Follow this step by step and you should be fine.
First click the windows start bar
> Then right click on "My Computer"
> select properties
> when the window pops up go to advanced system settings
> click the advanced tab
> select performance
> select settings
> once again select the advanced tab and set processor scheduling to Background services.
Another good routine before using Serato is to disable wireless devices.
To disable your on-board devices:
Again right click "My Computer"
> Select manage
> The select device manager
> right click on Internet and wireless cards found under 'network adapters' and choose disable. This will mean you cannot connect to the internet. To turn them back on you follow the same steps to get there, but when you right click you select enable.
Give this a go,
Cheers, Sam

Hey DJ BAM,
I think you may be reaching the limits of your machine. As we discussed earlier you have an AMD processor. We do not officially support AMD processors because of a few recurring issues with them: serato.com
It sounds like for best results you need to mix with your USB harddrive disconnected as that seems to put stress on your CPU. Also make sure you are not running any background programs that you do not need.
Cheers, Sam

Hey DJ BAM,
Like I said above, you may be able to keep using your hardware without issue if you have your USB hard drive disconnected and all background programs closed.
If you are going to purchase a new laptop make sure that it does not have a AMD processor as I believe that is the main issue here.
Cheers, Sam
