can't get sounds recorded through audacity on my computer

I have the vestax typhonn system and downloaded the Serato DJ intro. I am trying to record a mix through audacity and have the USB cord and an RCA cord hooked up to my MAC book Air. When i press record it only records the outside sounds not the sounds from the system. I thought the plugging the cord into the headphone jack would allow the sounds to be recorded in the system through the controller.

you have to change the settings: apple-system preferences-sound-use audio port for: sound input
