CDJ 100 as Dedicated Bridge Deck

The Funky Bunch 10:43 PM - 14 April, 2013
I recently purchased a used CDJ 100 for use as a dedicated aux deck for the bridge.

Annnnd, it works! Mostly.

Given the price, I'm happy with the solution.

The deck works best in Relative mode. But stopping the deck to re-cue is the tricky part. It takes three clicks. I have to re-cue the CD deck, cue the Serato deck (1st cue slot assigned to MIDI), and re-cue the Ableton clip (MIDI assigned as well).

Originally, I thought the deck would work in Absolute mode, but for whatever reason I can't get the player to rewind to 1.1.1 on the Ableton track.

In relative mode I can set the first Serato cue marker at 1.1.1.

Anyway, it's cheap. It works. Whatever. Enjoy!

Ya thats why i use the CDJ2000 in HID because I can do it all from the CDJ and not touch the computer.

But yes this is the best way to use the bridge i find.

oh wow i read CDJ1000, not CDJ100. But it all works the same.

I did get this idea from you Code:E, but since it's the el-cheapo CDJ-100 I decided to save face and not mention it. ;)

Well, I've got the Serato Cue button routed to my midi controller, so I don't in fact "have" to touch the computer. But I get that with the CDJ2000 in HID it eliminates this extra step altogether. (Right? With your set up you hit cue on the CD deck and the Ableton control track is at 1.1.1?)

With the 100, it's slightly cumbersome but super budget friendly. And it's still a Pioneer CD deck which is important to a lot of people.

it does, and i set a hotcue at 1.1.1 so i can jump to it anytime.

Now you could just map something like a stanton or beringer MIDI deck controller.
