I have a mac with latest osx. I have used itch on my pc laptop. All hot cues are still saved. When I play from my mac the previously saved hot cues are there from the pc but if I make a new one change tracks then go back to the track the new hot cues are gone.
I have analysed the tracks on mac. But still unable to save hotcues. Any explanation.

Macs can't write to PC drives by default (you have to mount it as read/write, which for me still doesn't make a difference). It's nice that ITCH doesn't crash just cause it can't write to the drive (props to SERATO here).

So how does or where does this leave. I am using serato dj now with the mac. Still not saving hot cues. But on my pc every thing fine.
What should I do to save hot cues on mac. Doni need to run a new hdd. Transfer all my tunes and run this solely on mac.

Backup everything off that harddrive to somehere else. Then reformat the harddrive on the mac. Then copy all the data back onto it.

Ok so seeing as I have a spare 2gig hdd. If I copy and paste everything as is from one to the other.
Thrn format the existing hdd on mac. Now if I copy and paste everything back over using the pc to do this process. Will the mac pick up all the files from where they are again or will I have to re analyse all tracks again. At present I have play lists all set up. Which work on both pc and mac

So am I not able to format in mac then plug into pc to transfer the files back over. Which is what I meant.
But you mention fat32. I am unfamiliar with this. Is this a good or bad option.

Fat32 can read and write on both pc and mac but your limited to a single file size if 4gb. Also if a very old format.
Windows uses NTSC
Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Mac can read an NTSC drive but not write to it.
From memory Windows can not read or write OS Extended (Journaled) Drive.
There is software you can get for mac that will make your mac read and write to NTSC but i know nothing about these so you would need to ask other people on that one.

So regarding saving or backing up my existing music its all best done on the mac two hard drives format one then copy and paste from one drive to the other

Then I could keep one drive for pc and the other for mac.
Does mac use much processing when using usb hdd with no additional ac power supply. So straight usb power. Or is mac bettet with usb drive but its own power supply

any harddrive is better with its own power. But if on a mac i would use Firewire 800 its more reliable and also frees up your USB ports.

ummm, no it doesn't. NTSC is National Television System Committee
NTFS (New Technology File System) is a proprietary file system developed by Microsoft Corporation for Windows.
bit of a MAJOR difference ;)
