Scratching Live in Pro Tools 10

Heyheyitsdj 10:21 PM - 2 April, 2013
I recently purchased Scracth Live with the interface SL2 and found a way to record scratches with the turntable motors off by connecting my Numark M3 Mixer record outputs to my Mbox Mini and recoring into a mono audio track in Pro Tools. I can record the scratches with a track in each of the decks in Serato, but I was wondering if it was possible to record into Pro Tools with the motors running?? I find it easier to scratch and get more authentic sounds/scratches. Any help recording scratches over my own mixes would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes, it is absolutely possible to record your scratches into Pro Tools 10 with the turntable motors running while using Scratch Live and the SL2 interface. The best way is to route the audio output from your Avid Pro Tools setup or mixer directly into your Avid Pro Tools input, just as you are currently doing with the Numark M3 and Mbox Mini, but keep the turntable motors on so you can perform more natural and authentic vinyl-style scratches. Make sure the signal is coming from the mixer’s record or booth outputs into a mono or stereo audio track in Pro Tools, then arm the track for recording and monitor the levels to avoid clipping.
