What would be cool is if the thread loaded more posts when you scrolled near the bottom or top of the page.

Yep, that's part of it.

Some of the code for that sort of thing is already in there now :) The Javascript is aware of when you're near the bottom of the page, and if you are it starts checking the server for new messages. The next step would be to only load a portion of the thread at a time, and load more as you get near the bottom.

There's some other funky things we want to try too...
