Hi everyone,
after I fixed the USB-Drop out Problem... I have now a new one.
Yesterday I played for ca. 5 Hours and the SSL Programm crashed completely 2 Times...
first I was searching a song in my crates, by doin´ it with the browser etc.
Then, after I didn´t find it I clicked on antoher crate. There were no more ID3 Tags anymore. When I clicked to another the Prog. stopped for ca. 1/2 Sec. and the music went on, but the Prog. doesn´t move anymore. Windows showed me in a new window, that something happend and if I want to send it to microsoft. after clicking on "no" the prog. closed. Then I reopened it and it went on until the second time. This time I was searching a bit stressed very fast clicking and typed the titel into the search. The same again. It stopped, the music went on, after clicking on "NO, I don´t want to send it to microsoft" it closed.
These two times were not the first time.
I get that nearly everytime I play, once... But only in the club...at home until now it never happened.
Once I opened the prog. and after 2 sec. this window came up and it closed. after that it didn´t happend the whole night.
Another time, I was scrolling in a crate after a song, and I saw that a song, that normaly has an ID3 tag right, doesnt shows the Artist anymore. I clicked on it and there was the problem.
I remember that song it was "Xzibit" ... should I delete it?!
Could it be a file?! Even, when I dont play it?!
Any comments?!
Chris

Have you built your overviews and scanned all your files for corruption?
Can you save the error message and post what it says?

Yes, it could be the file even if you dont play it. SSL might read the file ID3 Tags when you scroll through your crates. DONT delete the file, send it to Serato (in the help section there is a sticky post which describes how to), afterwards I would suggest to try to strip off the tags with a tag editor firs, then try again. Or your last ressort, and the safest way, delete the file. BUT send it to seraot first.

Hi everyone,
I had the a similar problem:
I connected my external HDD to my Laptop and tried to start SSL. The program opened, caused an error and got closed by windows (showing up with this nice "To you want to send...blablabla).
I restarted my laptop and this happened again.
Or sometimes, the program started up but couldn't find the file on the external HDD (connected via USB)
So I had to investigate on this issue. I disconnected EVERYTHING connected to my Laptop via USB and started SSL. Everything seems to be normal.
I closed SSL, connected the ScratchAmp and started the App again.
And still everything seems to be ok. I tried to play some tracks, backspinned it in a really high tempo -> Everthing was fine.
So i closed SSL again, connected my HDD and waited for windoze to inform me the the new drive is now ready (by scanning the HDD)
I opened my explorer and looked through the file on the external HDD. Everything seemed to be ok.
Now i started SSL and (believe it or not) it worked.
At least for a few minutes, because suddenly the error showed up once again.
My explorer was open in the background so i saw that my external HDD wasn't there anymore.
I opened the 'safely remove hardware' window -> no external HDD connected.
So I began to realize that what we're dealin' with here isn't a SSL issue. It was just my external HDD enclosure which fu**ed up the whole thing.
So I bought a new external HDD (not an enclosure anymore).
I tried to copy my files from the old external HDD to the new one- unsuccessful cause the old HDD disappeared.
So i had to take the old HDD out of it's enclosure and install it into my desktop PC. Now I was able to copy the files.
The new external HDD is working fine (no disconnections anymore) and SSL never crashed again - as expected :)
I hope I was able to help

How do I scan for corrupt files?!
C.
The file will be scanned and tagged within the status icon column if it is found corrupt
