The new yellow. It's for new things. Like?

Matt G 12:36 AM - 5 June, 2008
Yeah? Nah?

Anyway, it's much friendlier and livelier than the old grey, for sure. I think if we give it a few days we'll settle into it.

yeah, like totally me rikey. It screams summer. oh how i miss summer.

I like it. Brings a whole lot of warmth. Nice.

Warik 3:01 AM - 5 June, 2008
like totally ITCH yellow... *singing* they call it mellow yellow.
DeezNotes 3:10 AM - 5 June, 2008
Umm.... I think my eyes just exploded?

Nah, its not that bad. I only said that because someone else at work said it when they set all our lab servers to bright green.

Seriously though, there has to be a lighter version that works a lil better with the "minimal" theme going on here?

Warik 3:42 AM - 5 June, 2008
Deez.. it all ties in with the yellow that is used in ITCH.
bartaug 5:55 AM - 5 June, 2008
Nice yellow!
nik39 6:48 AM - 5 June, 2008
Did I become color blind?

I don't see any yellow.
bartaug 8:15 AM - 5 June, 2008
Actually here it looks more like orange....
DJMark 9:09 AM - 5 June, 2008
On my screen, it looks like the same shade of yellow used on lane-marking stripes. Doesn't impair readability though, looks fine to me.
DJ 3pm 1:33 PM - 5 June, 2008
it looks a little darker than the yellow they use to paint the lines on the road. it seems a little heavy to me, but i'm nursing a hangover so give me some time to think about it.
nik39 1:37 PM - 5 June, 2008
Ah got it now.

I gotta agree with 3pm, looks a bit heavy, but okay.

Now if we could have new threads (threads we never have seen before) marked in a different color (as described here www.scratchlive.net <- click) that would be nice.

There's yellow in itch? Oh... ok, I get it now. In any case, I think the scratchlive.net yellow looks less "BOOOOM PAAAOOOWWWW IN YO FACE SUCKA!!" than this. I'm almost tempted to... yeah....

in no particular order:
FFFF66
FFCF79
FFFFBE
FFFF99

You know? I hate to be the party pooper, but man... it's a strong color. It probably wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't so much of it? Like on the old site, the left side where the time/names are isn't yellow. Maybe why its a bit overwhelming to me?

Ahh well. Don't mind me.

i don't like that the 'reply to this discussion' box has the color on it too.
citi 5:05 PM - 5 June, 2008
The only thing I don't like is that the report/quote red bar covers up what I am reading. Especially those one line posts.

I read with my mouse kinda moving with the words and I scroll up and down the page with the wheel so I have to retrain myself to take the mouse away from the post.

I totally meant to put that in but it slipped my mind at the time. Will do shortly.

Also agreed. Changing soon :) The fix for this will be cool.
nik39 8:20 AM - 6 June, 2008
Could we get rid of the slow downscrolling when you hover? Make it at least faster if possible.
citi 4:36 PM - 6 June, 2008
It looks like it was done based upon my complaint about the red quote bar covering posts. It just needs to be sped up.
bartaug 7:59 PM - 6 June, 2008
Get a bit of sea-sick feeling sometimes when he messages scroll larger/smaller when the mouse pointer gets over them :)

Yeah a few people had brought that up. The speeds can definitely be tweaked a bit.
Toby82 1:37 PM - 7 June, 2008
i would also like to just have some space on top of each post, and the buttons just pop up without any fade.

also text on the new strong yellow is much harder to read than the old one. Sometimes i even click reload to get rid of the yellow, and that shouldn't be IMO...

Maybe you could find a little more decent one?

the yellow/orange is a little in your face for my taste but it's not bad if you're only missing a couple posts in a thread.

an interesting idea is maybe set the unread color to a lighter shade if more than 25% of the posts in the thread are read? That would at least minimize the effect for long posts.

Hm. What if its brightness signified how new it was. So a reply that's quite old would be almost white with just a hint of yellow?

Just a thought...

yes, I like that.

and I agree the yellow/gold is too heavy. I thought I would get used to it, but I havnt really.
DJMark 10:59 AM - 16 June, 2008
What if the gold was left the same color (since that color seems significant) but used only as an "outline"?

But I would also be just as happy if there was a shade difference showing 'new since last login'
Serato, Support
Matt G 1:15 AM - 24 June, 2008
I'd like a "new since last login" too (although more "visit" really, as logins technically can last forever if you never log out). A bit like how Whitelabel.net shows new releases since last visit, I'd like them under a separate heading at the top, like how the Stickies and Compulsories are separated.

That's something that's a bit fuzzy, as a "visit" doesn't have clearly defined boundaries. The usual trick is to just assume that a page view that's several hours after your last page view signifies a new "visit". How many hours separation to base that on can be hard to pin down.

Still, it'd be cool to get that in at some stage.
AKIEM 2:12 AM - 24 June, 2008
yes, Im logged in eternally it would seem.

maybe we could bring back the (logout) link.

I would be happy with one or the other
Serato, Support
Matt G 2:59 AM - 24 June, 2008
"Log out" is linked top right on serato.com and bottom of the links in the right column on scratchlive.net.

I'd prefer not to have to log out though, so something that does fuzzy detection of "visits" would suit my needs.

Still, I say all this would be "ideal", which means they're luxury features, not high on the list ;) But hopefully eventually...

Technically it's not yellow...the official color is KaGeN Visor Orange, as seen in this picture: nologout.com

Some people found the new yellow too full on (not me). The fading's an experiment. If people mostly dig it, it stays :) I'm still undecided, personally. Need to give it time.
Toby82 10:04 AM - 17 August, 2008
Just got familiar with the yellow and really started to like it, and now you come up with the fading. :)

But i don't like it, its kind of irritating while reading...

Also one problem is that it fades always... regardless whether you are reading the tab on which the page is or not. So if I open 20 threads at once.. when I finished reading the 3rd tab all other tabs threads are faded out already.

Warik 8:40 PM - 17 August, 2008

Not much can be done about that, unfortunately. There's no way to know whether a tab is in focus.

I did have it initially only fading messages that're in the visible viewport, so the fade would only start when you scrolled a message into view. But it took up too much CPU for long threads, starting and stopping animations as you scrolled. And it would probably have enhanced the distraction factor that some people are finding irritating.

I'll give it til the end of today, but I think it might have to go :(
nik39 11:01 PM - 17 August, 2008
Maybe we could at least change the current yellow to the faded yellow :)

Yes, please.

The "intense/saturated" yellow is okay for forum-list views, but gets tiring for reading postings...especially longer ones.
AKIEM 1:45 AM - 18 August, 2008
the fade is a neat "trick"
but I thought the shade would tell the age of the post (or sumting)
