I'd rather be able to do the star ratings in the offline player b/c I can't stand itunes, but I imagine if they hooked this up then I could do it that way too.

If serato was to do it correctly, in the field labels (where you could add / minus items) do a "iTunes star" and a seperate field "seratodj star" whereas if you like iTunes, the tracks auto match your iTunes library. If like others, want to tag up all tracks through serato Dj, you can customize for each track

With both, if you chose, you could use both to cross reference in serato and iTunes ratings. Tastes change over time, and if 5star in iTunes but down rate in serato, you could then have a visual to adjust you iTunes library

I think it's a technical limitation. I don't believe the ratings are written to the iTunes.xml file that Serato reads.

They might be able to read via AppleEvents / scripts.. but it would be too slow for a large database.

I setup 5 smart playlists in iTunes, 1,2,3,4,5 stars... then you can base other smart playlists or serato smart crates based on them.

Not perfect.. but you can deal with it.

Been doing this for last 3 years now that it is second nature, even on the fly with tracks that I trial for the bar customers I use the "grouping tag" personally and my CDJ's also can decipher the coding properly . For mac, Edit / special characters / then "choose what works" Also works for crate labels. Moi, ⚠️= something funky about the track. 🚧 = under construction for tracks that have not gone through the paces to be prepped for use.

Serato previously mentioned they are planning on releasing this option when Pioneer finally releases the CDJ 50000mk9 (not misspelled).😁 Be patient!!

Here's another attempt at a thread/petition to get star ratings to Serato (with a universally usefull approach imo that also solves a few other problems, i.e. multi value metadata, aka more than 1 genre for a track...):

Additionally, now that iTunes has forsaken it's 3rd party support / the xmls per default, you guys still using iTunes probably need to find a way to transfer your DB itunes rating to metadata anyway, no ?
