just connect the booth output to the input on the firewire solo. How come you aren't just recording through SSL?

thanks..for the info..i used to record with the 57 but compare it to my friends mixes the sound quality is way wya better. this is the route that they took. audio recording interface and recording software.

is it necessary that i have have a board? no right?

I used to record with the 57....i still do! But comparing the sound quality of my mixes to one using a recording interface the difference can be heard....so i think so. cleaner clearer..sound reproduction is way better!

is it necessary that i have have a board? no right?

You don't need to connect anything to the solo output.

I'm surprised you say the quality is your reason for going this route. Recording into SSL directly from the 57 should give you the best possible quality as there is one less D/A - A/D conversion taking place.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree. Less A/D better. You really need to hit that record level almost to red. Make sure to set them eq's right. That's what I do. I then bring it into Logic via wav or aiff file, do my cleanup and then normalize...Finally I kick it out as an ACC file.
