i have close to 200GBs of music around 15,000 songs, stored on a 2 TB external hard-drive connected via firewire. every time i close down and re open my mac the files don't stay analysed and i have to re-analyse all my files again.

please help,

How is your external drive formatted? If it is NTFS then the mac can't write to it.

You'll need to reformat as FAT32 if you want to also use the drive with windows, or Mac OS Extended (Jouranaled) to just use it with mac.

Make sure you have a backup first as formatting will wipe all the data on the drive.

its a mac external hard drive, the info says its a mac formatted drive

any ideas

this problem is strill happening, everytime i shut down and re-start my mac, i need to re-analylise all my file again, this takes hours as i have over 15,000 tracks,

any help would be great
