VisualHub's AAC encoder can't go much higher than 128kbps. ~150kbps is the max.

Yup. That's the response I got from the Visual Hub people.

So, my question is. What software encodes to mp4 that's as good and easy to use as Visual Hub but will encode audio higher than 128kbps?

I would love to have my audio be higher than 128kbps. I realize this is AAC and it sounds good, but if there's something better out there, I'd like to know.

Thanks people.

I haven't tried this program, but it looks like a simple interface:

Nice find. I'm going to try it.

Yea, I suspected this too. I set my VSH to 160 kbps, but noticed it was only 128 in Scratch. Unfortunately, it seems to be the best software for me so far to encode VOB files....so I'll live with the 128.

sixxx you can use vegas, not sure if rendering time is the same as encoding using visual hub.

I'm using El Gato and getting same results with audio.

I just saw that Demon. I'm looking into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Cool, I'm actually getting 162 max on El Gato. Ripped a few vids from PO last night and looked. I think the 128 was on some other vids I got somewhere. Cool thing about El Gato it doesn't use your comps cpu, uses its own.
sixxx 6:06 PM 3 March 2008
Yeah. I saw that. $99.00.... looking more into it. Still sucks it's only 162 max... :(

Have you checked if the 162 matches iTunes?
Demon 8:56 PM 3 March 2008
I got mine for $80 from ebay. Here's a screen shot of the vids I ripped.

Some audio is different from others so I'm assuming that El Gato is maximizing the audios potential its just the videos that aren't capable of getting 162 audio.

What I mean is... load up those videos in Serato. Does Serato still say the same kbps or does it say 128 for all?
Demon 10:46 PM 3 March 2008
Oh.

Looks like there reading 160, weird.

Yeah. You may want to bring this up to the Serato team so they can look at one of those files. Mine were showing 159 in iTunes but 128 in Serato.
