How it went??

So I booked this gig in August for the Halloween that had just passed. I knew from go I would be playing for minmimum 5 hours!
I bought SSl in September. My entire existence for the past 2 months has been work and importing music via Protools and bouncing to disc. The night before the gig I spent approximately 14 hours imprting music. About an hour before show time I finally gave my laptop a little breather. It was only at that point did it dawn on me that maybe it needed a little rest before the show. I packed the usual only this time I only brought 1 crate of records as backup.
I set up at about and 8pm and figureed because their was no one their I should keep it pretty mellow. I decided let me rock this cd of new "loungey" tracks before I got down to the real business. I played 2 tracks from cd when the littel wheel of death began to spin and SSL was utterly useless. I swapped cables to phono, diagnosed the problem, and pretty much lived in fear from that point.
I decided let me try imporitn the tracks into Itunes. It worked! After that slight hickup, whick leads me to beleive SSL works best with tracks already on a drive versus pulling them from a cd, my night went flawless. SSl was my rock! I was just "Shift" right/left arrowing tracks like it was nobody's business.
I even had Abelton LIVE open, recording , and used as a sampler.
My only real obstacle is I am so used to lloking for album covers that I overlooked certain tracks I would almost most definitely play.
Just wasnted to post this because I haven't really had to many gigs lined up at present. And after all the time and preparation involved SSL is what I have been waitng for..
As lame cheese as it sounds. ONly because I was seriously picking up a Pioneer CDJ1000-??
so I could play tracks I had produced , or remixed, why??
Very cool! The only thing I am dreading is getting back into ipmort mode I have so many pieces of vinyl left to import.

I know what you're talkin' about album covers.... I did grab at least 1K+ album covers from Amazon, Allmusic, googled some and even went to e-bay for some rare shit. I snap some of my own album cover pics on digi cam if I couldn't find anywhere. Wish you luck on importing vinyl!

HA! i do that exact sequence before every gig (kinda like cramming all night for an exam)...sometimes at my gigs, my eyes start to get all watery and wanna just slowly shut closed for a little nap (you know how weddings are while you play all the dining music)

For all of you who cram before the show... just think of this... eventually, you won't have to. :)

You'll have all your music (or most) on your HD and you'll be set to go.

I remember crammin' the night before a show WITH REGULAR VINYL. Always trying to figure out what to bring and such. Now, I just grab my iBook, external HD and I'm ready to go... (other equipment as well, of course).

ITS totally inane. I find minself mixing tracks I would never have thought of putting together and forgetting about tracks that are total crwod pleasers. I just gotta get used to looking at final names and rememering when an where to find them. HANKS for the feed back. Sometime you feel like the only lunatic on the planet as you record a track in and than play it again to bounce it to disk.
shalom, regards, peace, and god bless!

tommy. To avoid missing tracks you should play, create a create in SSL for MUST PLAY tracks or something, or in iTunes - a smart playlist. I love having the ability to play songs that I wouldn't normally bring to a gig if I was using only vinyl to avoid a heavy load.
