My 380 just arrived and I began playing around with it in preparation for a couple of gigs this weekend and for some reason I can't get any of my stored loops to turn on without the song jumping ahead to the loop when pressing a button that corrosponds with I'm trying to turn on. It's kind of acting like a hot cue. What am I doing wrong here? Need to get this straightened out right away for these gigs.

you're not doing anything wrong. this feature doesn't exist on the vci-380 version unfortunately, what you can do is turn on and off the loop by the keys { and " i think.
the bad thing is that you can't choose which loop to select.
so, for now, the app is one step back from what it used to be with the vci-300.

What? You've got to be kidding me. How could something as essential as being able to simply turn on/off stored loops not be included? Sorry, but I respectfully refuse to believe this info. No possibly way Serato/Vestax would forget to include this very basic feature. Will someone from Serato/Vestax PLEASE respond! Without the ability to access stored loops in SSL or ITCH like I can with every controller I own then this thing is useless and I am the proud owner of a $1K paperweight.

i believe everyone's with you on this one, but as they explained in another post in this forum, they probably will make it happen, let's hope so sooner than later, it's a greatly needed option. the goal when you make something more advanced is to add functions and take it further, not removing features!

Hi Help,
I understand your frustration with this. You may want to know that you are not alone. There is already this thread if you care to read has many other people that are upset that this function is missing.
here -->serato.com
I appreciate you bringing this up, it will be noted and passed on as a feature request. Serato and Vestax will hopefully have a solution worked out.
heres the keyboard shortcuts as a temporary workaround
Keyboard short cuts:
Left Deck
loop in: O
loop out: P
loop on / off: [
Right Deck:
loop in: L
loop out: ;
loop on / off: '
Hope that helps

Hi Matt - Thank you for the official response. I have to be honest with you though in that decisions such as this to just go and remove a key, fundamental function of digital mixing does that has been present in your products from the beginning and we now rely on does not give me or anyone else I know a good feeling about the hardware and software developers behind the product. I've been a loyal Serato user since day one and had always believed that you keenly aware of your customer base's wants/needs/expectations, and working jointly as "partners" as advertised with hardware developers such as Vestax to ensure the best possible hardware/software combo and experience. This faith is now shaken having just spent $1K on a supposedly high-end top of the line controller solution only to now discover a crazy decision was made to delete a core function. Talk about a highly un-welcome "gotchya" surprise. This would be like me ordering a new Mercedes-Benz and when it arrives I find out that MB decided out of the blue that it was a good idea to delete the reverse feature and then MB says to me/us that they'll "hopefully have a solution worked out". This experience has been very disturbing to say the least.

Did it ever occur to Serato/Vestax to at least announce to its customers that traditional looping would no longer be included when it released this statement?: "It’s many new features make it a worthy successor to its ground breaking predecessor, the Vestax VCI-300."

Another burning question: What was the line of thinking and rational by the powers that be to go and delete traditional on/off looping in favor of looping that automatically jumps playback to a stored loop? How could this possibly be consider even remotely a good idea? Does anyone at Serato and/or Vestax actually DJ (either as a living or just as a hobby)? Decisions like this make me think not. Listen, I've got no problem with you experimenting with features and adding them, but NOT at the expense of removing basic needed functionality.

Hi Help,
Did you try the Keyboard shortcuts? You can still turn on and off loops and set new ones manually with those keys.
We have taken note of your (and others) opinion to have the buttons included in the design of new hardware. It hasn't changed in the software though.
A lot of people would like to have midi mapping in ITCH and that is a possible solution to the problem. At least on the software side of things :)
We appreciate your continued support and feedback.
We are all DJ's here. You can count on that.

i would have love to been at that sprint planning meeting where one of the stories was "modify traditional looping".
geez, was there not any push back on that? even my 1 yr old would've said hell no.

This is open to misinterpretation.
Are you saying that this feature cannot be added without a hardware re-design?

Matt - I did not just pay $1K for a state-of-the-art, top-of-the-line, "all-in-one", premium ITCH controller so that I'd have to resort to taking my hands/eyes off the "CONTROLLER" and then reach all the way across a booth in order to activate/deactivate stored loops on a keyboard. Seriously, no disrespect, but what are you guys smoking over there? Who told you deleting a basic, essential function like this was even remotely good idea? Did you bother to do any market research?

New hardware? The 380 IS new hardware. What happened to Serato's claims of:
"Integrated one-to-one hardware mapping. With one-to-one hardware to software mapping we provide a system that is fully featured, but still very easy to use"
"The exciting new Vestax VCI-380 DJ controller is an incredible piece of hardware co-designed with Vestax for Serato ITCH. It’s many new features make it a worthy successor to its ground breaking predecessor, the Vestax VCI-300."
"Intuitive control"
I thought their was a "partnership" between Sertao software and the hardware manufacturers, but then when stuff like this happens it says the contrary to us.
