Does anyone have any idea how long will it take until Video-SL can run on SL1 instead of using the TT57 mixer?? Mainly for financial reasons and because the that mixer is awefully expensive $1449
any ideas? thanks...

It works now! Buy the plugin, and after you install it go into the setup screen and type "SAMISGOD" in caps and it unlocks the SL-1 feature! Try it out! It only works on the full version so you have to buy it; the Sam feature isn't put into the demo version.

hey diego. good to see you on the forums. if you really want to do video, $1400 should not be an issue. you'll make that back in 2 gigs. 3 tops. you'll have it paid off before you even get your credit card statement.
if you're just interested in spinning videos in your bedroom, get vdj.

7:13 AM 3 February 2008
YES.........my cousin works for promo only down in Florida. I am currently using Virtual Vinyl with a Numark dmc2 controller to do video.......so why would I need to go spend $1,500 on a mixer when Video-sl "SUPPODISLY" works with the sl-1 interface?
DJ TONY LITTLE
7:18 AM 3 February 2008
Virtual Vinyl is just as good as Serato but the only difference is that Virtual vinyl comes with both audio and video in 1 for $500.00 you don't need to spend $539 for serato plus another $200 for video-sl.

Hey "Little" slapnuts ... If you paid $500 for Virtual Vinyl then alow me to offer you a jar of vasoline for free. Virtual Vinyl from Numark is Virtual DJ permanently skined to the Numark skin. It cost's $150 from VJD .. add $40 for the Vinyl (if you lived in the USA 3 years ago)and your at $190.00 .. Wait ... you dont have the skills to use vinyl. My bad.
When you say Virtual Vinyl is just as good as Serato you need to check your skills. I have been a PC - DJ for over 10 years .. yeah 486 DX100 and Pentium 100. Kiss my ass. BPM Studio, PC DJ, Virtual DJ, and Serato. Now .. going from Virtual DJ to Serato is night and day ... It's on like realtime should be. If you cant tell the difference, then you couldn't mix Obama and Hillary at a democratic debate.
Why are you even on these forums? Go talk shit to people that dont know any better. Besides .. I know you wouldnt want to hurt your wrist bringing that record back and forth.
Go find a new sandbox to play in. I would hate for you to see me in a bad mood. If that happens I would suggest buying a big box of Kleenex.
PS. If your cousin really works for Promo Only and he new what your were doing / offering and saying, he'd kick your ass.
Now get out of here before things start getting ugly. Go push your buttons on your dmc2. I can say that especially because i still own (2) Dac 2 controllers but you problaby wernt born when they came out 4 years ago.
Well you might sound like your at least 6 years old so you might have had one.
BTW ... NO MODERATOR said SL1 works with Video yet. If you read it, show me the post.
Wow ... REALLY?

ok "madd matt"........number 1, virtual vinyl cost 500 because you also get an interface box just like the SL-1 interface and you also get 2 control records and cd's. It's the same as serato with a different name. So, I dont know where you get $190 from. And virtual vinyl is as good as serato. I use it when i do my music videos in the clubs and I have never ran into a problem yet.
number 2, my cousin doesnt care what offers i give and say cause he does it himself.
number 3, i will go push the buttons on my DMC2 and after im done pushing those buttons, ill push the buttons on my cdj 1000 mk3's and after that, i'll push my clear serato vinyls back and forth on my technic 1200 mk5's.
number 4, nothing is going to get ugly....your starting to remind me of an "AOL Tough Guy"
Last but not least, if you ever wanna battle on theTurntables, come to New York and I will personally make your 10 years experience look like you just started yesterday for the first time. And thats a promise!!!!

To be a top dj in NY, 1500 for a mixer should be pennies to you or maybe you are a bedroom dj/gangsta trying to stir up the pot here. Virtual dj has some great features but it don't have the main one and that is stability with vinyl.

I've been DJing since 1987 ... Been using a PC for the past 10 years.
$500 is still too much $370 is more like it.
Numark Cue is not the same as Serato with a different name ... Its Virtual DJ
I know what Eder said ... He isnt a moderator & yet you belived him. Thats your own fault for not reading the million post's about it already.
And I might just take you up on your little battle. I could go for a NYC trip. I'm due for another Trophy.

no shit it's virtual dj but when you buy the version with the interface and the records, it's called virtual vinyl..............and the only "top dj's" in new york are the radio station dj's. if your not one of them or are friends with them, no one wants to even look at you. I have spun with many of the radio station dj's in New York and people still hate and I had a radio station manager tell me that I Spin better than half the dj's that are in the radio industry....like i said New York is a state of HATE!!!!
DJ TONY LITTLE

Virtual vinyl doesn't have stability? maybe you should download the newest version 5.0 I use both turntables and a DMC2 Controller with it and never had a problem. i only use virtual vinyl for video and serato for audio.
DJ Mad Matt
10:33 PM 3 February 2008
Ive had Virtual DJ since version 2.1.6 .. That was back in 2004. The interface is just a soundcard problably no better than my maya 44. Plus I have the time coded vinyl for it. Which I also got 4 years ago. I have the newest version. So why do you use serato for audio then if Virtual DJ is soo good? Keep in mind that I went back to using VDJ a few months ago for Video reasons. And I couldnt wait to get back to serato.
You mean to tell me that the Best DJ's in NYC are the Radio Jocks?
Wow bro .. seems a few of my boys in NYC might have a problem with that.
9 times out of 10 radio dj's dont know how to mix and when they try its a trainwreck from hell. They dont need to know how to mix. Radio Jocks mostly need to be MC's.
You saying thats a staition managers says you spin better than most radio jocks is the dumbest thing Ive every heard. That proves nothing.

just to clear this up radio dj's are different from the dj's that play music and talk. dj's dont talk on the radio and mainly do no more then 2hr mixing.the radio personalitys dont spin, some start doing it later, but the best dj's can be the radio dj since most are battle dj's.

oh and mad that a cool trophy but not a dmc trophy,so it has no real meaning, just a best dj for the city you stay in.and most on here are scared to say anything wrong about serato, like their sponsored or get free stuff from them, truth is I've Been djing with virtual dj also with the serato box and it works frawless but Im not getting paid by neither but what the club owner wants is video so I had to do VDJ till serato video cameout.I brought the ttm57sl and mess with the demo video but havent brought the plugin yet cause VDJ works good.I brought the mixer cuz I was a battle Dj and always like the buttery faders.I see where most ppl dont wanna spend $1350 w/video or $1450 or $1550 for it when dj only wants $499. I think it was a bad mistake on serato part but thats them.I still brought the mixer mainly cause I can controll my laptop from it.not really for video since the cpu wasnt strong enought to run they said, and with vdj its no biggie.

Most Mix show Radio Jocks didnt start out as Radio DJ's either ... If they did they wouldnt learn as much as a DJ that started in a club. Bedroom DJ's dont get enough experience either and good turntableists didnt start in the studio. They were in the clubs too.
We did a club style Contest .. Not a DMC Turntableist Competition. We were judged on Mixing, Syle, length of mixes, In and out at proper times, Chord structure and all around accuracy of the Mix. We each had 15 minutes and 3 songs we had to play which we picked from a hat. 2 new and 1 old school. Whatever we put in between was up to us.
Yep ... I hear ya ... Thats why I went back to Virtual DJ Too ... i did a full Video install and had to start using videos again like i did 2 years ago. I started running Videos when VDJ came out with their video version.
I have no problems with virtual except no matter what I tweaked I could never get the latency to be as good as serato even running the SL1 Box with VDJ. Virtuals Timecoded Vinyl never felt like real vinyl. I have not seen anything that is as acurate. Seratos Timecodes on VDJ didnt help either with latency. And that didnt support needle drop.
I own 2 Nightclubs and my DJ's were not happy when I said they had to go back to VDJ cause now were runnin Video.
I consider the best DJ's to be the ones who can keep a floor and keep it rotated and keep people in the club that don't dance. And mainly keep the garbage from even wanting to come to the door. I felt the same way even before I owned my first club.
Were running Video with serato now .. I've spent a ton of cash as well but I consider it worth it to us. My guys perform way better on Serato and I have to admid I do too. It took Virtual DJ a very long time to get it right. But the way serato designed it with the Video portion completely seperate is such a great Idea and I support that. VDJ users were pissed when video came out cause at that time audio wasnt all that stable and then they added video to the mess.
Video doesnt run effeciently with serato yet but, I know that will get worked out soon. It took VDJ 3 releases till there coding was much more efficient to run vids.

Now mad matt, i see what u are saying about the radio dj's but "IT'S THE NAME" thats al these club owners and promoters are worried about in NEW YORK. If your name isn't out there, they dont want you. Ive spun with radio dj's that bring there friends to spin and the actual dj that was suppose to spin, just stands there and watches and get paid a shit load of money for doing nothing. he'sgetting paid for his name and what station he dj's on.

I guess I just don't belive that Its only the radio DJ's that get the gigs cause they are on the Radio. Like my good friend Corey Jasper spins at alot of places including Pancha and he's not a radio jock (occasionally an Internet Mix show but thats not the same). Then you have Siz and Riz that play different venues there but, I know they are also doing a lot out of town. But no Radio that I am aware of.
Then there's DJ AVA which is a Turntablist / Mashup Artist for the Vault. I know he was on the radio but not sure if he is anymore.
Its understandable to bring in a Turntableist into the club and have "everyone else do the work" If your a straight turntablist your set is usually very limited .. Your not doing a 4 hour shown ... More like a small exibition. Unless you can spin a club mix as well.
So I still can't belive that all the resident DJ's are also on the radio. Maybe bring someone from the radio in once in a while for a small set but most clubs still have residents that will do the beginning and end with a special guest in the middle somewhere.
I definatly know that the headliners have their DJ's play for a lot of the night. I mean, I've gotten invited to come up to NYC and do some shows with them so, I completely understand what you mean by that whole concept. But those DJ's wernt Radio Jocks but, they were the headliners.

Dj Sizzahandz and Riz are just known as "mash-up kings" and sizzahandz has been spinning in this brooklyn lounge called "level lounge". I never really here about sizzahandz spinning in clubs in the city or wanted by any promoters. And About your friend spinning in "Pacha" i have also spun there with Dj Camilo of Hot 97.1. The club owners today don't get the big named dj's, the promoters get them. thats why to make it as a dj in new york, you gotta know people. If it wasn't for my cousin promoting all of these clubs, I think i would have quit being a dj cause thats how serious the competition is.

There should be no reason why it stops working unless you dont take care of it and bang it around. If it does break or stops working, you have to call Rane and tell them you need to send your serato interface to be inspected. If there is no sign of damaged or if it's a defect interface, they will send you a new one.

Correct!!!! serato is one program and virtual dj is another. If you can't afford to pay for serato in full, there is an online company dj equipment cmpany WWW.AMERICANMUSICAL.COM they are located in New jersey and nevada. They sell serato brand new and if you have a debit or credit card you can make 3 payments instead of 1 if you dont have all of the money right now. Thats how i bought mine a year and a half ago

Ok guys, I just got an sl1 and my mixer is a numark. I want to use video, So i bought some program from a guy on craigslist called video sl for serato. he said it usually goes for 1400, but he sold it to me for 700. I paypalled him the money and he sent me a program and some sort of codes. He said it works strictly with serato. I can't get it to work at all with my serato. Am i doing something wrong. Thanks, oh my mixer is a numark dxm 06.

Virtual dj has auto matching, if you open virtual dj, you will see a button called "Sync" thats the beat matching

Let me understanding.. If I Virtual Vinyl that can does a video in Seratos? That sound fresh! So eBuy Seratos $500 + Virtal Vinyls $300 + Videoes SL $200 = $900. Why buy a mixers to Rane on $1450? THAT'S DUMB! HAHA

excuse me djpuma_gemini... wait your turn. DJ TONY LITTLE is helping me right now.
Anyway, but I heard/read that SSL has BETTER auto beat-matching feature than Virtual DJ. I don't like Virtual DJ cause it doesn't mix stuff right on its own.

There has been auto play for the longest time now...........if you open up your serato, if you put it in REL. Mode or INT. Mode, right underneath those 3 options you will see "AUTO" with an arrow on each side. Just press auto and it will highlight. the only thing is there is a short delay between changing songs. If you have your songs set on cue points, go into the setup, click on playback and select "Play from first cue point". That will start the next song a little quicker.

the loops get stored into your computer. you can use your serato in Internal mode and still have your loops without a mixer at all
djpuma_gemini

Dj michael basic, I think from this forum that you need to have the 57 mixer to use video, unless you just use quicktime for videos. I do it and it works great. I just recently moved from the West Coast and I learned to DJ from a well known DJ out there called DJ KaGeN (Baddest mutha on 2 turntables) and I am still learning.
He says Serato and the Video plug in will ONLY work on Windows computers but I already own a mac. I am saving to buy a Dell as per DJ KaGen's instructions but seems I have to buy a 57 mixer, two turntables and the Video plug in plus a DELL computer running Vista to make this all work...
I will go broke because Serato Video doesn't work on Macs. Can I just get the regular Serato and run it on a Mac until I can save and get the Dell for video?

you dont have to just buy turntables, you can buy cd turntables or whatever you are more comfortable with. But you do need a TTM57-SL to use video

Wow, so I can run Video Serato on a Mac, I thought it would be incompatible, because you know they don't make much software for Macs.
What do you think is better Tony Windows or Mac. I really want to do this DJ thing, but I want to be taken seriously. People see me DJing with a "toy computer" like a Mac they may not hire me or take me seriously.

There are 3 ways to angle a m-44. 45 degrees to the left straight and 45 degrees to the right. if you are looking at the needle and have it directly in front of your face, turn it 45 to the right. That is the best for scratching

LOL.......funny Ever look at the specs of a computer and it would say for exapmle: 2.0 ghz processor 60gb hardrive 512 mb of Ram Ram is what reads the files from your hardrive. The more memory, the faster your computer will be
DJ TONY LITTLE

Oh I never really noticed.... now that you say...
So when I make my RAM double, will my PC go twice as fast?
And while we're at... why do I need 60GB harddrive? Can I get rid of the hardrive, buy Ram, then my computer will be faster and I dont need a harddrive!
Is Ram also for the Mac or only PC? I heard Macs don't need Rom! Is this thrue?

DJ TONY LITTLE

Sixxxx...........you can do it with those Ortofons but you would have to buy the Technics Headshells. If your going to use serato, the Shure m44-7's are the best for the serato vinyls. they are better for scratching and they dont ware down the vinyls like any other neddle would

Wow, 2 gigs isn't very much to store Music. I have downloaded about 1 gig of music from limewire so if I have 2 gigs of Ram in my Mac, I would almost be out of room. I guess I will have to get that Dell, it probably has more room to store music.
Some guys were telling me about this site called Crooklyn Clan that has all these cool songs that already pre-mixed but you have to buy them (only like $2.99 but you get two songs already mixed together so it is still cheaper than one 12" vinyl). I'm not used to buying my music when I can get stuff from limewire for free but 2 songs MIXED TOGETHER already for $3 that is a deal.
I'm sure my 2GB will fill up fast. Damn, I need that DELL anyway.
DJ TONY LITTLE
3:11 AM 6 February 2008
LOL......you are so confused. Gigs of RAM is totally different From Gigs to a hardrive. Having 2 gigs of RAM mean that your computer can read 2 gigs worth of files at the same time without the computer crashing or running slow. My MacBook has a 250GB Hardrive in it. I have almost every song from Crooklyn Clan, just dowload LIMEWIRE (Basic is free) WWW.LIMWIRE.COM and you can download everyone of there songs for free

Hey, I had a friend come over for a session back in october (no homo) and he had those 23 degree angles on his needles. What a tool. He goes through vinyl as much as hef goes through hoes.
I like to put a penny on my needles to keep the needle in the groove. thats what my old school homie told me and it works. needle never jumps the groove.

I only have UBS ports and firefox ports on my Mac and the one UBS port is used by Serato.
I wonder if I can get a UBS to scuzzy adapter so I can use that 10GB drive dude was going to sell me. It was only $75, that would be a deal compared to the 2 gig Ram prices I have seen.

THat is how I line up my beats. I let them both play at the same time and watch the waveforms on the screen. Thats what its for right? When one goes faster i chagne the pitcher and try again. Once they are aligne tehn I fade to only one track and let the crowd, or my girlfriend in my bedroom hear it.

that is beat matching if you are doing it with 2 different songs, if you are using 2 of the same songs and beat matcing you will be making the FLANGER sound effect. What serato wants to do is beat match by itself by just pressing a button and let the program mix it on its own without you physically mixing yourself

Tony you should be a MOD.
I've learned more today that I ever had on this forum before. My parents may buy me a new Mixer for my 21st birthday so I can go out and spin in the clubs. I want a 57 but we can't afford it. The two gemini turntables I have really set me back.
WOW, MINIMUM OF $250, Hang on I wanna show this thread to my parents.
I was going to go to college but I think I can make it as a DJ. That Kagen guy says I have skills, all I need is that Dell and and some practice. I have been hanging around this guy named DJ Johnny M since I moved and he is teaching me how to spin all this old school stuff just like Grand Master Flash used to do except we use Serato.
DJ Johnny M is so sweet, he can still play real vinyl and he even has an antique REALISTIC mixer for the TRUE DJ sound quality.
He says he can beat ANYBODY in a Battle. He tells me about this big battle he had over the Internet and he wiped some Mexican guys ass all over the turn tables. I guess the Mexican guy had all these video clips in the battle but Johnny broke out his REAL VINYL and kicked his ass.
I LOVE hearing that story about how Johnny M beat that guys ass.
Man I want to be a professional DJ sooooo Bad.

Yo Tony, I keep hearing this term "microwave dj". Right now, I've got my american audio cd player and stanton tt set up in the kitchen, pretty close to the microwave (that's the only space available in my small apartment studio). How do I use the microwave in my sets? Right now, my laptop sits on top of it, while I practice my fades, but I can't figure out how to use it in my sets.he's making a joke cause you got ur stuff next to your microwave in the kitchen

this is the best discussion in the whole forum !!! Thanks Tony for all your help, i didn't know you are an expert for turntables also. I live in germany and we don't know so much about that sh#t. Can you help me with my weight? Sometimes i spin only, sometimes i try to scratch, so i thought, 45 degrees for scratching and normal position for mixing, so i turned my needles about 22.5 degrees, which looks cool, but i am not sure with the weight. Somebody told me, to turn it and use with 2.5, but i have problems with mixing, i have a pic added. please help...

DJ Art Pumpin Payne you might want to also go to college and DJ at the same time. I'm a Mechincal Engineer for Lockheed Martin and I DJ corporate events on the weekends. I pulled in 30g's last year as a DJ. With my day job I'm easily making over 100k a year. I think your parents would buy you the mixer if you agreed to go to college. You can DJ all the college parties which would be very cool. Just a thought.

6:06 PM 6 February 2008
Smooth B...................The needle right, thats the best way for scratching cause the needle is more stable. for the weight, what the hell is doing in the front? put the weight in the back where it is supposed to be. when you put the weight on, keep turning it until you can't go any further and set the Anti-skate to "0"

Absolutly not!!!!!!!!!!!! you will break your needle and damage your vinyl because there is way too much weight in the front.

I had a job interview today and the interviewer asked what do I do for free time. I took out my iphone and showed him this thread and he said so you dj huh, and i said yeah, but im getting help cause I like to learn.
He said maybe if i get hired i could do their picnics and stuff.
I told him that would be nice, but I have to charge them, cause that's what we dj's do.
I told him Im pretty expensive at $15 an hour for gigs.
He said great.

there are 2 sides of the vinyl a 10 min and 15 min. when it reaches the end of the vinyl, it does jump into internal mode but the song will still be playing. as the song is still playing, put the needle back to the beginning of the record and it will jump back into absolute mode or rel. mode

i wouldnt count on it anytime soon. i'm also saying it will suck unless it comes with a dedicated interface for crossfading videos, controlling effects, etc. its not all about forcing you to buy a new mixer, that mixer has controls for working with video. an sl-1 does not. doing all that shit on a keyboard, along with all your ssl shortcuts is gonna get mad confusing.
you can keep hoping for SL-1 support but i'm personally hoping they don't do it. they're getting enough grief for video already, i can't imagine what they will get when all these guys try to use video with no controls and complain about all the keyboard shortcuts they have to use or worse, they just skip those features and only have basic videos where you have to manually crossfade between videos using your keyboard or some janky midi setup.

Yeah you might be able to play the vids, but you won't be able to crossfade them or have any transition effects like 57 gives.

exactly. everyone seems to think a midi mixer is a replacement for the 57 and they should just make video work with midi.

thanks a-swift. I have read the threads and there is a lot of conflicting info. Seems like you what your talking about. Although i do have numark avm02 which is specifically for video. I run serato on two channels and dvd players on the other. It is pretty cool with some cool efx, and two crossfaders which can work together with video and music or seperately like if you just want to run visuals. Howevever i gotta carry around dvds and i cant scratch video. So i got a video mixer that i paid about 6 bills for, so as far as having a video mixer I got it covered....On a seperate note ive heard people are running virtual dj with serato, is this really possible?

Unoficially if you got the asio drivers you can do it.
Not sure how well it works though. Never have done or attempted to do it.

SL1 Box and VDJ works very well especially if your using like a dac 3 controller. Dac 2 responds a bit slower but still works well.
You can use VDJ's Time coded vinyl on VDJ with a SL1 Box but ...
Put it this way ... "There is nothing like Serato"
The ttm57 will work with VDJ but, Not the time coded vinyl. (As of 1 month ago. This may be different by now.)

VDJ works great with an SL-1 box. And you don't need a "VIDEO" mixer for the Serato video. The video mixing is built INTO the software itself. So a video mixer does you no good. The 57 is a controller for the video mixing built into VSL. That's the point I think people are mixing. Then they say, well a midi mixer can do everything the 57 can do and more.
I say, anyone who is saying that has either never used midi for application control (other than simple triggers and such). MIDI is a *really* simple protocol and has no way of implementing some of the basic shit that the 57 already does. You're NOT gonna get the entire midi protocol changed in order to get the 57 functionality over midi control. Ain't gonna happen.
Take a really simple example, a line fader on a midi controller. When you start up your application with a line fader set at 50% and you look at your application, most likely the control that fader is controlling is set to zero or the default. The application has no way to request, over midi, what the state of the fader is. You have to MOVE the fader in order for the application to know where it is.
Do the midi people understand why this is important?

A moderator would probably have the best answer so maybe he can help with this question. I currently use a sl 1 box and mixer to Dj. I want to stay current with the newest in technology when it comes to mixers, video, and production equipment so my question is also my dilehmma. I want to upgrade my mixer to the new empath and continue to use the sl 1 box but with the introduction of video-sl it seems as if thats a bad move if i want the new video capabilities. Is their a definite release date of a video-sl version that will work with the box or do i have to purchase the ttm-57 to take part in scratch video. I need some info. What should i do?
djpuma_gemini
3:41 AM 18 February 2008
Im not sure if it will ever work with the SL1. I just bought a 57 and I love it.
I don't think they did it as a ploy to sell more 57's. It just seems too hard to do all that you can do with video without the 57 being incorporated into the mix.
If you want video now, I'd get a 57. I honestly don't think they'd give a release date unless it's real soon, but as I stated earlier the features will be limited.

lack of actaul info for the amount of posts - almost bein 500 i thougt i slept and it was here already!
this vdj is soudin like its gona be the only thing 2 keep the itch down until it drops for the sl1 or i get maself employed n get the £800 for the 57...
was sorta hoping it wouldnt be much of the 57 functionality coz as u sed about the vdj - all the video mixin seems 2 be program based just controlled from the 57 , but SL picks up differentails in levels through the sl1 so i thought itd be kinda the same script ( select preffed effect -be it linear tiles) as the video plugin runs seperate although alongside so when u load a paired video/audio it recognises the cue and there u go.. with some keyboard shortcut additions of course n some other control record corss compatable functions..
i mean the 57 is a quality peice of kit , and the sl1 looks slick - i dont wanna get stuck carting around some duffus add on for ma macbook ( check the vestax vcm 100)
just when things started 2 get simplistic again...
also take it from earlier requests for auth codes that 'in theory' if i was to install 1 on my macbook and 1 on my pc id be ok aslong as 1 of them was to stay offline?
i like having the pc with its almost jamp packed memory for tryin anythin and everythin out and puttin only whats essential onto the laptop...
really though , should i be focussing on saving for the 57 more than a realistic release of a sl1 compatable video plugin?
Cheers to all the long time thinkers

guess not then - sorry it was like the early hours and id done ma best 2 read all the posts since i last had a scope on here , im takin ma sl1 for more than its worth i guess then, but workin in partnmershipwith a mixer surely - im just meanin when u join the track with the video, and internals pick up ur high picthed where the hell its at on the record or cd noise its as easy as telling them both to play ( easy not the ideal word) but u tellin me this goes right over ur head?
likewise usin extra keyboard shortcuts and the extra control sufaces on teh vinyl to navigate through the video plugin options such as crossfade effect( bout the only option that matters for it now)

this thread
so funny
so sad
seriously though, I was disappointed at first that video-sl doesn't work on the sl1 right now. But after toying around with virtual dj I can see why it's much better to "just" use the ttm57, as it seems nearly impossible to mix records and simultanously use an extra midi controller to create something that's worth looking at.

Is anybody using their Video SL on gigs yet and if so what kind of display do you use. Projector, plasmas, etc. Do you use it in the clubs and plug it into their setup or bring your own display in.
Is the video-sl something you use to make your local warehouse party a little cooler or is it a functional peice of nightclub equipment.
Is it worth it to purchase if your a Dj in the nightclubs and lounges that usually have thier own setup or is Video-Sl the best way to enhance your mobile DJ service or personal performances.
I guess i just wanna know how and what kind of DJ's are putting the new VSL software to use.

Dude... I heard you are the guru on this Serato stuff. Im over here in Iraq right. But i can figure out why these damn platters don't move on my CDJ's. Is there a way i can place a marker on them like you do with vinyl? Also, if the platter doesn't move are they broke? Man i'm sorry to overload you with questions. but nobody here seems to know. Im thinking about moving back to denon's cause i know their plater moves.

Hey Tony..
So i'm looking at the decks right. I see where it says rev and fwd by the platter. How do you pitch bend with them. Im tired of using the pitch control to adjust the speed? Any tips?

well anyway that doesn't matter if your using serato with your cdj's cause with the 1000's you can save 3 cue pionts to the cd player itself and on the serato you can save 5 cue points.
Mark your cue points on your serato program itself and they will automatically save. you will never have to do it again from the cd player itself.

the pitch control is the only basic way unless you have your cdj's connected and you spin the platter to try and catchthe matching beat from the other player.

2:05 PM 7 March 2008
ya something like that... i think my needles died because it makes the same beep noise that a dead person makes in the hospital. someone told me that is serato's way of telling you to change the needles????!?!?!?
DJ TONY LITTLE
2:09 PM 7 March 2008
if you got the platter spinning and you put the needle on the vinyl, don't load a song into any of the decks. If you hear that long continuous beep sound, that means it's setup right. After, load a song into the same deck that the platter is spinning, if you don't hear the beepp sound, your good to go
DJ TONY LITTLE

i hear music fine but i still hear a beep through the needles... like if i turn the music down on my boombox i can still hear a beep coming from the actual needle, not through the speakers. are they dead? :(
DJ TONY LITTLE
2:19 PM 7 March 2008
no they are not dead........i would recommend the Shure m44-7 needles, the last longer on serato vinyls.
If you can't hear the beep noise when you crank up the volume, then your needles are fine.

i dont think you have to spin them all night by hand (someone with non-moterized cdj please chime in). i think all you have to do is push the play button and the non-moving INTERNAL moter should start spinning.
i want to be clear hear. if you have the cdj without the moter installed, the internal moter WILL spin but it shows up in the display. like i said. i think all you have to do is hit the play button. spinning them by hand all night? well that's just stupid, there is no way it works that way. at least i dont think it does.
if you do take it apart to see if there is a moter in in, do like briguys says and get some extra screws. if any of the screws have funny looking tops on them, you will need to drill those out in order to take it apart.

Whoever said that they make slipmats specifically for left and right turntables is a real a**hole. You may put one on the left and the right but they aren't labeled left table or right table, it's just a Turntable.
And for that old school mix, you might have heard each song individually but that 14 min mixing and blending was done by me.

FUCK! is that why I have been trainwrecking so much lately? Ill switch them up tonight and see if it helps.

Try putting them on at a 45-degree angle, I hear that helps a lot. You may need duct tape and/or superglue.

Once again, there are no such thing as left and right slipmats. when you go buy turntables, are they labeled left table, right table? absolutley not. You just naturally put one turntable on the left and one on the right. Slipmats only look crooked and look funny when they spin because whoever made and designed the slipmats didn't perfectly center the hole in the middle correctly. Or either you may have used the slipmats for so long that you stretch out the center hole and it has a little play for the slipmat to move from side to side while spinning.

What's up fellas. I'll be at WMC in Miami demonstrating the new Technics slipmats at the end of the month. I'll tell you what... whoever came up with the design is pure genius. They're machine washable unlike the felt slipmats that are currently on the market. I'm sure you guys have the same problem I do with dirty slipmats after spinning 3-4 times in a club with smoke and drinks and girls in thongs. You know!!! mmmmmhhmmm
Hit me up if you guys want to be a beta tester for the new mats. I can get you a set but probably not for free. You would be the first on the block with them though. I've been using them for about 2 weeks and my scratch game has improved at least 100%. Who would have thought that the motion of your left hand and right hand made a difference?!

Hey Tony, I got an idea to run through you since you know your shit man!
I've got 2 7" serato control records that I want to glue down on the jog wheels of my cdj's in order to get a "vinyl" feel. 1) Do you recommend this? 2) Should I try and find some clear CV's so I can still see the display on my cdj's? 3) Should I cut out the center of the CV's to see the display? 4) Should I use Torque CV's instead (I heard Torque has built in effects) 5) Should I try and patent this idea?
I could really use your help on this as I'm sure everyone will jump on my idea if you think it's cool....thanks Tony Little!

I am also trying the Left and right slip mat thing but when I move the right one to the left turntable, it ends up upside down. I've tried it several times but it always happens. The logo always ends up where I can't see it, just the black side shows - no logo.
Anybody figure out a fix for this.
I guess you can't interchange left and right slip mats. I'm learning to scratch but I scratch better with my left hand so I am wearing out that slipmat quicker so I want to switch them so I don't wear one out faster than the other.
Please help...

Oh BTW... i found out that the R&L slips mats ONLY work if you have them on each side of your mixer. If you put both turntables on one side of your mixer you MUST use 2 lefts or 2 rights (depending on what side you have them on) or they wont slip right, but when you do that the 45-degree angle is a MUST, or else you will get MAJOR needle skippage unless you use a spot of superglue on the up/down hinge on the tonearm and a drop on the stylus tip, but you HAVE to put the needle on the record as soon as you apple the drop to the tip, You will NEVER have an issue with the needle skipping ever again (untill you have to replace you needle, then you just re-apple the superglue)

Geeze guys. If you're not using butter and you're using the sprays, you have to remove the butterrugs and put them on a newspaper. Don't spray the underside while it's sitting on your turntables.
disturbed, you are correct on the L&R mats. The mats have nothing to do with the actual turntables. They have more to do with the angle of your hands on the vinyl. That's why they work so good and that's why you have to use 2 Left side mats if you are placing both your decks on the left side of the mixer.

Another thing that's superb about the L+R slipmats is that they can 'sense' how much pressure its applied to it and it adjusts accordingly. Now you need to be very careful as this pressure is measure in lbs. If you're in say, Mexico, you need to adjust it to kilos or you'll mess them up quick. It's all on the manual when you get them. Right OJ?

You're still a joke. I have all the old Funkymix records almost from issue one. By todays standards, their mixes are garbage. for you to claim that you mixed that is so fucking funny that it's off the fucking funny charts.
By the way, carrying shit in and setting up for DJs from a radio station doesn't mean you "spun" with them. Don't worry though. Your set this weekend is going to be recorded live from Gypsy Tea nightclub and posted here.
Seriously, do you think that these DJ's really were wondering about their left and right slipmats? They really were buttering their butter rugs? Input selection on the back of their mixer from Serato? Serious?
Scroll up and read. The sooner you admit that you were claiming a mix that was a FunkyMix and not your own, the sooner I'll stop trying to make you cry. Maybe that shit might fly with the morons you hang out with who think you are a real DJ, but in a room full of DJ's??? Really? You thought you were the first person who heard that mix?
OK... I have an offer for you. Give me a full and correct tracklist and I'll leave you alone.

let's see if you can compete with meIn this forum, so far as I know you are (securely!) in a category all by yourself. This thread is already legendary....over a month of side-splitting laughs, followed by the (inevitable) denouement with the stolen Ultimix medley. You just can't buy this kind of entertainment!
Rest assured that even if you never post another word in this forum, you'll be long remembered.

I see... so you made this mix in 2007 and this guy posted it 9 months ago?Oh OK! I see. Well that makes sense.
Especially since Ultimix released that mix in 1995. WHOOPS!
Here's a link: www.web-records.com Scroll down to FunkyMix 22 to see when it was released. (September 1, 1995)
Dude, you're a joke. Seriously, a laughing stock. You've been caught redhanded claiming a shitty FunkyMix medley as your own. When are you going to admit that you suck and you have no talent except for a bad case of denial?
Let me guess... you'll get booked for a club and tell them he can only spin for 13 min. You'll play that mix and leave.
Clown!
thats a website first off, you act like they couldn't say they released that mix in 95 to make it look like it's been on there since 95. Number 2, I dont suck and i'll never suck. When I see you spin with all of the "Heavy Hitter" (Radio) dj's of New York City, than you can tell me I suck.
Thats funny, b/c I picked up Funkymix 22 back in 97 when i was over at there studio's looking through their back-stock of stuff, and the mix was on it then. If you dont believe me then know that I live in Burlington, NC, which is 20 mins away from Greensboro, NC where the Ultimix (the guys who make funkymix) studio is located. My GF moms lives 3 blocks or so away from their studio and I have worked with the guys over at ultimix at many diff clubs. So yeah... go on claiming that mix as your own, The untimix guys DO read this forum and I'm sure they will be contacting you by email soon. But that does not matter b/c you have already lost any respect that you could have had on here. I guess thats why you said sny further things should be emialed to you b/c you realized that you have been clowned.
