New CV02 Vinyl not lasting long at all

Ordered some new vinyls about a month ago having had my CV01s for almost a year. I've used my CV02s for opnly about 4 or 5 hours and tracking %is down to 12% on one! I have one side of one vinyl that I havent used and I get 96% from that on both decks so I dont have a hardware issue. It seems to me that the CV02 vinyl is very poor. at 12% the track is skipping all over the place making it unuseable. Is there any recourse for getting replacement vinyls? Maybe these were a bad batch but I only use my serato in the house maybe an hour a week ans as I say my CV01s lasted almost a year!

mmm i have noticed something similar. i thought it was due to dirt inside the record grooves but... it seems they are damaged.
are CV02 "softer" than CV01?

glad its not just me, I'm actually getting more tracking % from my battered year old CV01. Just to give you an idea the label on my old vinyls is all worn through, on the new ones the label is not even slightly worn but yet they need replaceing already!

Nah I've experienced CV02's not lasting that long either. I just purchased a new batch and couldn't believe how much better SSL performed... it seems that the vynil is softer and degrades easier. I 2, only use my vynil indoors / non-club situations... so I would think they'd be good for well over a year.

no my needles are not new they were bought when I first got SSL so they will be just over a year old. I was impressed with them when they were new, although I never had probs with CV01. TBH though surely the vinyls cant be made to last only a month? I hardy use my decks, if I was practising every day the pair that I've just had would easily have been completely worn out in a week.
Is this the bit where we find out that SSL really is too good to be true?

I have CV2 records and I play weekly and practice at home on a daily basis and I haven't even started using my replacement ones. So, no.... there's gotta be something wrong with your needles that's "eating" the groove up.

maybe he got a bad batch of records, i'm sure there are some bad ones floating out there.
there are really two logical explanations for this, bad pressing on the records, or something in the setup/condition of the needles that is causing premature wear.
whatever it is, i hope you figure it out.

Yo Jonny, PM Shuan and tell him about your vinyl. Make sure you have the info from the vinyl as well... should be on the inner ring . If a whole bunch of people are having it with a certain batch then he's gotta know so that the QA people at the pressing plant get slapped.

I also noticed more-than-average record wear. We must consider that we are using the same 2 records for every song vs. a different piece of vinyl, but I have to agree with others in this thread. This vinyl is wearing down a little too fast.

Now that you mention mine have seemed to wear out rather quickier than before . I seem to go through the vinyl quicker but its only after reading this thread that i thought about it .

I think people should check there needles. Reason being I noticed alot of Dj using Ortofons Nite clubs and those chew records bad normal and cv012s. I used them myself anf its true. The only way to us the ortofons os to configure them exactly to specs or it will eat records. Stantons wear better then the ortofons(Shockingly) but shures are the way to go weather its deep punch u want in the M44-7's series or M44G's. I use my ortofons 3x max when I play house music to get highs out og the traxs.

i cant say i've noticed any difference in record wear between version 1 & 2, but then I'm using M44-7's with a maximum of 2.5g so my record wear is pretty low anyway

The CV02 records are exactly the same "grade" as the first version. The only difference is the CV02 control signal was remastered, but that's about it.
Keep in mind you're using the same set of records for hours at a time multiple times a week, making quicker record wear inevitable.
Keeps your needles clean and properly calibrated for optimal performance (i.e. don't put the counter weight on backwards and such ;)).

I hear what your saying about needles etc but sorry there is a problem here. I've used the same setup, same needles (I play some audio vinyl too so can monitor needles wear that way) The fact is that CV01 lasted 12 months and my CV02s have lasted for 5 weeks and about 10 hours use if that. The CV01s must have clocked up 100s of hours use over a year.
I have just bought my second pair of control vinyls in 5 weeks so I will keep you posted as to exactly how well they are weraing. I'm also going to log exactly how long they are used.

Question:
What was the cheapest place you could find replacement CV02 vinyls for? $10 off the internet? which site?
