I got a stiffy (crossfaders)

Leksbeat 3:09 AM - 26 January, 2008
I've recently moved and haven't been messing with my gear lately, but I finally had my turntables setup and had some fun. Most of the time, I was mixing and didn't scratch much, at the time, so I didn't notice if it was stiff then. Last night, I guess I had a scratch session and noticed the crossfader to be very stiff. It didn't feel smooth at all. Is there a remedy for this or should I have a dealer look at it? Suggestions?

go to Radio Shack and ask them for Deoxit. they sell a kit for $15 bucks that includes two different sprays; one cleans and removes all that grimey shit from the bars on your fader(s), the other will lube them up real nice.

do this, and it'll be just like new.

there's also instructions in your manual on how to do this. as well as lots of info already on this forum this exact topic. check out that nifty search feature over there -------------->

Just lube the faders, no need to "deoxidize" them, that makes no sense.

bad idea to clean all the bullshit off?

Not at all. But you don't need to "deoxidize" them.

I actcually went out to radio shack today and bought the spray to oxidize the fader but didn't buy the one to lubricate it do to uncertainty. Anyhow, sprayed it and like you said, it works like new. Thanks djmoneyd425 and nik39.

Not to sound like an ass, but I work 6 day's a week, 10 hours a day. I don't have the time to search through the forum that's why I posted a new thread hoping to get a quick response, which I did. The less time I spend searching for the remedy the more time I'll have to polish up my skills. By the way, is the "search the forum" new. Never noticed it. Thanks.

i hear ya, but if you'd typed "cleaning ttm57 faders" you wouldve had an instant response. it wouldn't literally taken less time to do that than post a new discussion.

either way, glad we could help.
