Hi, i know that they used the TTM57 in the SL/Ableton demo, but im using a regular 2 Channel mixer. When i record my mix in Ableton [.als] and i export it, i hear every thing that i did.

Meaning, while deck 1 was playing/recording, deck 2 was cueing up & also recording. So the playback was kinda like if my fader was dead.

I really hope i wont have to buy a 57 just to record properly in ableton.

That's how it works, your mixer doesn't communicate with the Ableton Live set in any way.

If you have a mixer with midi enabled faders like the Pioneer DJM-800 there is a workaround by mapping the controls in Ableton and recording 2 Ableton sets simultaneously, but it's quite tricky to accomplish successfully.

If you don't have a mixer with midi faders it's never going to happen. A physical impossibility.

The easiest solution is to buy a Rane 57/61/62/68.

Hi DJ M-Star,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but with The Bridge, only Rane mixers currently have the ability to record the Fader automation.

The reason for this is the faders are actually midi mapped to Scratch Live when you are recording, so when you bring the faders up and down, Serato reads these midi messages and transfers it through the recording to Ableton.

Where as with a normal mixer, the faders work as an electronic component that actually cuts off the audio from the mixer. This affects the audio coming through the master output.

This would be fine however its only midi message that Ableton saves in an .als file. So it will sound fine to you when you are mixing, its just those fader movements won't be saved as an automation for Ableton.

Hope this clears things up,
Cheers :)

Yes sorry mate this looks like the best way to record your mixes for now.
Hopefully you will be completely satisfied when you get your new TTM-57!

I will close this as a "fixed" thread, but if you have any more questions feel free to let me know!

Cheers :)
