Untracking a PM removes it from your list

Don't know if this is a bug or feature, but if you "Untrack" a Private Message, it deletes the entire thread/message from your PM list and you can no longer access it.
I know deleting PMs has been a long standing feature request, but this seems like a bug. I accidentally untracked myself from a PM and was wondering why I wasn't getting any messages the last day or two (it's a PM with multiple people with frequent posts) and the entire thread disappeared from my PM list.

Hi Konix,
This isn't really a bug I don't think. The idea of a PM is that it is not a thread, it's a message directed at you. Untracking it is essentially unsubscribing yourself from it.
May be tracking isn't the right term when talking about a PM but I'd be interested to know how you think it should behave.

Well, I don't think there should be the stop tracking button in the PM itself, or at least it shouldn't physically remove you from the PM and delete the listing. "Tracking" to me means you just receive a notification when there's a new post. If you stop tracking something, you should just not receive any more notifications about it, but the thread/pm should still be there.
If you want to delete a PM, I think it should be back on the main PM listing page. Maybe a check box or delete button or something like that. I do have 100s of old PMs I'd like to delete, going back to 2005/2006, I certainly don't need those anymore and wouldn't want to have to go in each one and untrack each individually, that'd take forever.

Hi Konix.
This is a UI bug: the 'Stop tracking' button shouldn't be there for PM's.
It wasn't there before and it doesn't make sense for PMs. As Adrian said, you're either in a private discussion or you're not.
Does it really matter that you have lots of old PM's? Like any list of threads, the most active ones appear first, so can't you you just forget about all the older ones?

Cool, well, not cool in that it's there, but that it shouldn't be.

Agreed, that's what I'm saying.
Not really, it doesn't bother me that much per se, but I'm super old school and have been around since 2004/05. I know I'm probably the exception (and probably a few others old forum heads like nik39), but I'm not kidding when I say I have 100s of old PMs going back to 2005. Some 7 or 8 pages worth of PMs. I'm just super anal and OCD and like things neat and tidy. I'm sure PMs don't take up that much space, but I'd assume it could save your servers a few MBs if I/we could delete PMs, so why not? I don't see why it's a big deal.
I suppose I will just have to take advantage of the UI bug for now and delete them while I can.

That could be an interesting feature.
But it's not so important for me either ;)
