Rane TTM 57SL vs Sixty One Mixer?

deuxspin 6:54 AM - 5 April, 2012
Hi all,

I'm currently using a Xone DX & Serato Itch. I want to get into a bit of scratching and get familiar with a club setup, so have decided to go for a set of 1210's and a Rane mixer. I have two options at the moment:

-a used TTM 57SL for £550
-a Sixty One imported from the US for around £900

I'm told the TTM 57SL is in immaculate condition, so really I'd like to understand key differences and whether its worth putting in the extra cash?

Having used a Xone DX, I'm used to things like looping, fx, etc. And want to make sure the new mixer has all these features.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts,
Ced.

The 61 doesnt have ANY Serato Controls built into it. So I would say you will Love the 57 more. It has controls for Cues, Loops, Built in FX etc.

The TTM57 offers control of the software, the Sixty-One does not. There are a few buttons you can map to the Sixty-One but comparitively the TTM57 outshines the Sixty-One when it comes to Scratch Lvie control.

The Sixty-One offers a USB 2.0 port and improved sound quality. Both units have the Scratch Live technology built inside. If importing a mixer, the warranty is only good in the country of origin. Meaning, to have the unit repaired under warranty you need to ship it to the states and pay any duties or customs fees as well.

Also to add... The 57 will not work properly with all Windows machines.
If your using a Windows machine please read these FAQs regarding computers you should stay away from when using a SL1 or TTM57:
--> serato.com
--> serato.com

In general we suggest staying away from any AMD computers as well --> serato.com

that is one of the reasons for me buying a 62 and selling my 57 , the compatibly with the newer generation PC laptops which will not be fixed from my understanding......

although i had and still have an older Toshiba laptop with an AMD processor which worked good with my 57..and 62

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I've gone for the TTM57, hopefully getting it this afternoon.

I have a feeling its going to make a nice change to mixing on my Xone DX.

Wonder which would be better for Video SL? 57 or 61?
