So this girl came up to me asking for me to remix her a cd, she gave me an original cd and told me to remix the songs, theres about 15. When i remix i just dont crossover songs i actually remix it, like put another beat on the acapella things like that, it takes me about 30 min. to do one remix. So i would take about 7.7 hrs. doing this cd. how much should i charge, take in mine that im gona use other beats that i personallu bought and use them to remix songs of hers.
She told me she was gona give me 10 bucks (i think shes trying to take advantage of me since im still a rookie with this dj thing(4yrs.)) so how much would i charge.
this are some remixes ive done

There's NO WAY I would remix a CD for anyone and charge $10.00. What I would do is charge her $10.00 and then sell them like cupcakes. Then, you may actually make the money back from all the hard work you put into it.
Or you can just put the remixes up on that crook website. hahahaha

I get so many emails from people who have stumbled across my website. They say "im willing to pay you to make some up-to-date remixes!!"
Normally I just ignore them and dont reply back... but when I do, i tell them that it takes alot of work... its not easy, and if they want a specific song remixed they'll have to pay per song...
IBTL. hah

I wouldn't even do a basic mix cd for 10 let alone spend anytime remixing some songs for her. Tell her to jog on.

jog on. lol
I should add that any time i've replied, specifying an ammount PER track, i've never gotten a response. lol

@ Briguy - I used to get that all the time with people asking me for beats. People hunting me down chasing me for a beat and then asking if I wanted to be on their mix cd for promotion.
No you asked me not the other way round. I'd never heard of you till now. Jokers.

What does this actually involve you doing?
For me to do a remix of someones tune. I have to find a sample to go with them, find the correct bpm cause 9/10 they don't know. Sync it all up with my MPC and my HD and then make the beat and mix it down or get someone to mix it for me.
That's at the very least a few hours work and that's assuming they like the beat.
I'd say £50 which is about $100 as a special rate. If you're doing a load I suppose you could start cutting it down from there.
The other thing is how well known are you in your area. If you are the go to guy charge her more, if you're new charge slightly less.

If she gives you the original tracks to use (like the acapella and instruments) then you need to explain to her that you'll be putting a lot of work in so you'll need to base what you charge her on the amount of time it'll take you to do it.
Personally, I'd remix one of the tracks and play it to her to say "this is what I can do". BUT - put a drop on it so that if she just takes it and doesn't pay you then it'll always have your name on it so at least if it gets played out somewhere you'll get some shine.
But it depends on what you actually do to the original track - if you're genuinely remixing (like Caramac says), putting a new beat on or redoing the whole tune or whatever, then you can charge more than $10, that's for sure.

well when i mix it, i use beats and take samples from other songs and combine it with the ones she wants me to mix, there basically smashes. not exactly a Remix but it still takes me 30 min. to do one of those. like i said again it is gona take me 7.5 hrs. to do her tracks
