is serato just failing to keep up with the track. What i mean is are you loading the track and starting to play it and then drop outs happen? If so it could be your harddrive speed. U most likely have a 5400rpm HD and when doing video its just not fast enough, I just ordered a new harddrive yesterday beacuse of this issue. You want a 7200rpm drive.

I have 5400 internal and external. Zero issues ever. Remove your corrupt files and see what happens.

i mean your internal. Mine is only 5400rpm. Your might i just order these 2 things.
This one is to replace my optical with a 2nd drive. The exciting drive will go in here now.
eshop.macsales.com
this new hard drive will go in the main drives spot. I will put the OS on it and music videos. MP3's and everything else will go on old drive. I will be buying an SSD to be the main HD in a month or 2.

I've used 5400 rpm drives in all my macs and have two of the i7's now (one 2.0 and one 2.2 ghz) No audio dropouts ever

I'm sorry, but this is just plain incorrect.
Modern 5400rpm drives are plenty fast enough to play videos. I know because that's what I've been using for several years now.
It's definitely "nicer" to have an SSD as an OS/apps drive (run the media on the larger conventional hard drive then), but even when I was running everything off one 5400 rpm drive it was just fine.
The original poster clearly has some other issue(s), though with the limited information available it's hard to guess what they might be.

when i had Core 2 Duo i had no problems...when i got a new macbook (i5) the problems started.
So i did what any dingbat (lol) would do..i upgraded to the i7 once i got the i7 i then upgraded to 16gb's..
i know Mac spec's say you can only go to 8gb's that is NOT correct) smdh at Mac for that..
anyway I'm still having this problem..I did think of upgrading my hard drive looking at these
eshop.macsales.com
but I'm also thinking it could be the fact that the 57 has a 1.1usb

Here's a tell tale question:
1.What Version of Serato are you using?
and if it 2.3, have you completely re-built your overviews from scratch
2. what hardware are you using?
57, SL2,3,4 68?

Did you re-analyze all files after installing 2.3.1?

yeah.... the engine that writes the file info has changed.
so, the people who have been having the best results have been completely wiping their library, and starting from scratch.... (yes, expect some work)
also expect a few crashes when building those overviews again... just keep going.
while, the USB dropout might not be DIRECTLY related to this, it is has become
a necessary step apparently....

could it be a 32 vs 64 bit problem? thought I read something awhile back so been running my in 32 bit since I got them
Code:E

I think that 32 bit issue was fixed. But i could be wrong. either way i know it only effected the sl1 and ttm57 soundcards. Main reason i upgraded to a sl4

I would say what type of drop outs. Is the Searto still spinning with no sound coming out. If so then its the external drive. If you getting the pin wheel of death then its most likely over heating. What type of external hard drive you use?
