If your partner's new laptop has an Intel i3, i5 or i7 processor, that will have issues with the SL1 on Windows.

If it has an AMD processor it will probably have issue with any Serato hardware.

What are the specs of his laptop?

He will not be able to run an SL1 on that laptop because of the incompatible i7 processor. See here for more info: serato.com
