Since I updated to 2.3.3 the auto-bpm range seems broken.
So far I always analyzed my DnB tunes seperately and had nice consistent values from 138-180BPM when the range was set to 95-185bpm or so.
But now 30-40% of my tunes are analyzed half-tempo, which basically isnt such a big deal, but since SSl writes in the tag, all of smartlists in itunes are messed up and smart-crates by bpm dont work proper as well :(

Set the Range to a 98-195 and Re analyze those files. That should fix them.

Didnt help, that was actually the first thing I tried.
What has helped was to rebuild the library and then analyze all songs again.

Something still seems broken, after rebuilding the library i thought it was fine, but it´s the same again.
started new library > set bpm-range 98-195 > analyze > 40% of the tracks show halftime bpm > create smartcrate (bpm less 100 & genre = breakbeat/DnB) > analyse tracks from smartcrate again > 90% correct bpms.
Why wont it work correct the 1st time?

How are you analyzing the files the first time? Are you just clicking on analyze? Or are you dragging and dropping? Maybe the files already have BPM info tagged by other programs.
Highlight all the files, delete the BPMs, set the Range and drag and drop to the analyze button. That should do it.
