Songs that I have not played in a long time are no longer in my library. Is there a maximum amount of songs that serato can hold at once? I carry around 3TB of music to every gig and I just realized that my only half of it is actually in my library at any time.

No.. SSL can house as many files as you throw at it.. although the more music and crates you add to SSL the slower your system might become.
Is the missing music coming up pink or is it just not there?
If its pink try using the 'relocate lost files' feature --> serato.com
If its simply not showing up then just re-import it.

Serato crashes while trying to load in the libarary and when that happened before I fixed it by creating a new databasev2

I'm guessing you have MP4 files your trying to import.
Try NOT importing any video files.

Cool.. let us know. If the issues only occur when importing video files I'll refer you to the VSL pros at Serato.

Is it crashing when importing one audio file?
If so, if you import the file from your internal drive does it still crash?

DJK-Rice

DJK-Rice

Ok..
Open your external.
Rename the entire _Serato_ folder by adding a number 1 to the end of it.
Create a new folder on the root of your external and name it _Serato_.
Open the _Serato_1 folder, copy your Subcrates folder, and paste it into the newly created
_Serato_ folder.
Now open SSL.
Any luck?

How is your external drive formatted?
1. Ctrl+click on your external hard drive icon that is sitting on your desktop.
2. Choose 'Get Info'.
3. Look under 'Format' to see the format of your drive.

Try reverting to an older version of SSL.
Maybe 2.0.
All can be found here --> serato.com
Once installed, open SSL without your external plugged in, go to Setup, and make sure your in fact using 2.0.
Then try plugging in your external drive.
Does it mount?

Ok well 2.0 magically works now .... Tho it crashes when I close it
Zach S
8:02 PM - 10 February, 2012
Crashing when closing is usually due to a corrupt databaseV2 file.
Try rebuilding it again.

Can I change it back to 2.3.3 now ??? because I need it to work with a sl4 sl3 and a 68
Zach S

Give it a shot. 2.1.1 and higher will work with the SL3 and Sixty Eight.
2.2.2 or higher is what you need for the SL4.

Ok.. so there is something on the external, or the external itself, causing an issue.
Do you have access to a PC computer?
If so, I would like to check to see if there are any hidden folders on the drive.
Plug into a PC and do this:
1. Click on the 'Start' menu.
2. Click on the 'Control Panel'.
3. Make sure your in 'Classic' view (if your not in Classic view you will see a link on the left of the browser that says 'Switch to Classic View').
4. Click on 'Folder Options'.
5. Click on the 'View' tab.
6. Check the 'show hidden files and folders' option.
Now open your external on the PC and you'll be able to see any hidden files on your external. If you have any they will look grayed out.
If you see any hidden ScratchLIVE or Serato folders please copy them to the desktop of the PC and delete them from your external.
Once done, plug the drive back into your Mac and do this again:
Open your external.
Rename the entire _Serato_ folder by adding a number 1 to the end of it.
Create a new folder on the root of your external and name it _Serato_.
Open the _Serato_1 folder, copy your Subcrates folder, and paste it into the newly created
_Serato_ folder.
Now open SSL.
Test.
Let me know how you get along.

Ok.. then there won't be any hidden folders on it.
If doing this doesn't help:
Open your external.
Rename the entire _Serato_ folder by adding a number 1 to the end of it.
Create a new folder on the root of your external and name it _Serato_.
Open the _Serato_1 folder, copy your Subcrates folder, and paste it into the newly created
_Serato_ folder.
Than the issue is either corrupt files on the drive or the drive itself.
With that said, I would either try moving all your files to a different drive and/or reformat your current drive.
