Been a 1210's + Scratch Live user for years, and absolutely love it. Wanted something similar but portable, where i can still cut/juggle, and the vci300 seemed to tick all the boxes from the videos i've seen on youtube etc...
After waiting ages I finally got mine today and I must say that I'm slightly disappointed with it so far... Well, maybe disappointed isn't the correct word, I suspect I just need to set things up differently and get used to it, but here goes.
I want to put the latency down to the lowest setting but it won't let me move the slider that low. Why is this? My cuts don't feel right at all.
This has happened 3 times today: the track playing randomly freezes and all the lights on the vci come on and the unit has no control over the track/software. Closing itch and restarting it is the only fix.
There is literally the smallest amount of adjustment on the rear dials that will actually let the platters work correctly, which to me makes the dials pretty pointless! Sometimes a track will stop playing and the only way to start it again is to move the rear dials!
And simple juggling...that isn't the easiest from my experiments today!! Maybe I just need to get used to the platters or maybe settings need to change...?
Any help would be much appreciated as I obviously cannot gig like this!

Specs are:
Windows Vista Home 32bit
Intel® Core™2 Duo T7500 (4 MB L2 cache, 2.2 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
500G Internal HD
2G Ram
4 x USB2.0 Ports
I have checked the spec of my laptop and also ran all the optimization tools to make the PC as fast as possible but still having the probs. Wireless is always off and power option set to high performance. I even have a separate partition (purley for DJING) with windows 7 installed, with nothing on it just Itch/scratch live and the same occurs.
I have ran an SL1/SL3 with external midi controlled fx and streamed over Ustream (audio/visual) all at the same time with no dropouts or issues before, so I am wondering if the unit is faulty ?

Hello,
this is not the perfect machine and your settings must be right.
double check the songs you play and change it.
i bought a mac to prevent this kind of bug.
now i must find more powerful tracks.

Not really sure what you mean...
My machine is over the spec to run itch!! NO problems there.
All the tracks I play are purchased WAV's so NO problems there!!
You don't need a MAC to run Itch!

Problems like this are usually computer related problems and not a problem with the VCI itself. It is usually caused by something running in the background that you don't know about. Hopefully someone from Serato will come here and help you soon. Although you don't need a Mac to run Itch, it sure is a lot easier to get it working with a Mac since they are all made in the same place with the same parts. PC laptops are made all over the place with a million different configurations so they are a lot harder to get going, but hang in there, you will eventually figure it out.

Thanks for the reply Panotaker :-)
My mate is bringing his brand new Mac over tonight so we can run some tests, and i am also sourcing an external PSU to see if that helps.
I have been speaking to Mike @ the Vestax service centre in the UK, who i must say has been very helpful.

That is probably the easiest way to figure things out is to hook up with someone that has a working setup. You can then try your stuff on his confuser or his stuff on your confuser.

Hi Mr Markutz,
This seems like a strange issue. I would be interested to know if the same thing happens on your friends laptop as this could indicate a hardware issue.
Does it matter which USB ports you connect to? Have you tried another USB cable at all?
Sam.

Tried an external PSU (as the vender and Vestax service UK thought it was a power issue) and this didn't really seem to have an effect, although i think a PSU is an excellent idea.
Tried the controller on my mates new Macbook Pro and had similar issues, and sometimes the machines wouldn't even recognise that the VCI was connected.
Going to get a replacement sent out and then try that...
