The little lights to select what mode you choose light up, but nothing else happens.
What do?

I did everything in this: serato.com
Still doesn't work, the Dicer comes up as a Midi controller in Setup but still doesn't do anything other than flick through the possible types.

You must be in REL or INT Mode for them to work. Are you in ABS Mode right now?

Have they ever worked? Have you tried another USB Port on the Laptop?
How about turning off a bunch of unnecessary stuff on WIndows7?

Do they appear as a connected device in the midi section of the SL setup screen?

I was leading up to the Link you posted djKenaceTheMenace - thank you :)
James Russell if your Dicers still dont work, I would contact Novation.

Yeah they appear as a connected device in Serato's setup screen, I haven't unplugged these when they were turned on at any stage, I only got them a few days ago.

I'm not sure, the Dicers have no drivers, how would I go about doing it?
RafaelM
6:16 PM - 8 February, 2012
CLick Midi in Serato, Click on a button in the Program, Hold down the small button on the Dicer and press one of the Big buttons at the same time.
Did it map?
Did it map?
James Russell
11:06 PM - 8 February, 2012
No, it just did the same, no response at all.
The only buttons that light up are the selection for modes, none of the actual 1 - 5 light up apart from when I first plug them in, they do a little light show for a second, so it must know it's plugged in... I have no idea.

I've had some connection trouble with several midi controllers in the past, both the Dicers and the Denon HC1000s. Unplugging the controller, then restarting SSL, then plugging back in, have normally done the trick for me. Sometimes I've had to restart the computer too.
I'm sure you've tried it at this stage.
Have you been able to plug the dicers into another computer/model/brand?
The Dicers draw power from the computer, and even though the light go on it might not get enough power from the computers usb port. If you have a powered usb hub, you could also try to use this with the Dicers.
For the Denon, I have to use a USB cable with ferrite bead > images.intomobile.com
Not sure if its possible to get something like that for the Dicers though.

I haven't actually tried plugging them into another computer yet, I'll have to try this in a few days when I get back near my stuff, will update how it goes.

James, I don't think so. I run my dicers on macbook pro, but I'll have a go with my win7 64 bit Dell, when I get the chance. On the mbp I actually run it on a cheap belkin non powered usb hub together with an apc 20 and usb bus-powered external hd. Drive is for music lib backup, none of those files imported the SSL lib. www.pawsalava.com

This is so weird, it even says in Serato that it recognizes that it is there.

James, did trying the other computer make a difference? Did they work?
James Russell
11:09 AM - 18 February, 2012
Just tried them on a different computer.
Worked perfectly.
It's running Serato: 2.3.0, is there a way for me to go back to this version to try it on mine?

Did you try a powered hub?
Have you tried to only plug in one of them?
(important:

I'll try it tomorrow, my dad is gonna bring one home.
Will update.
They do light up when connected, which means they defiantly have power, so yeah... I dunno.

I did mention this as I have experienced midi controllers lighting up, but still not have enough power to send signals to the computer, had this happen with both dicers and hc1000s....

Is there a certain order I need to plug the serato box in before the dicers, or starting the program or anything?
James Russell
1:52 AM - 20 February, 2012
Actually, I'll try finding the power supply for the SL3 box, that way it won't be drawing power and there will be more for the Dicers.
James Russell
1:57 AM - 20 February, 2012
Found the supply, used it, still doesn't work.
Used the power supply on the SL3 box AND the powered hub for the Dicers... still not working.

I am up to date on all my software

James, I think there must be some sort of issue with your computer.
Have you been able to try any other USB controller with your computer?
ObsceneB, have you tried to clean out the the XML files in the midi folder?
Just make a new temp folder and move the xmls there (while SSL is shut down),
then have another go. If that works, save a new XLM from with in SSL, and you should be able to move the other ones back into the midi folder.

Thanks again Warpnote!
Looks like a "headscratcher" for us all James Russel - not sure whats going on. It could be other drivers getting in the way.
The only solution I can think of that will save you time and headaches is re installing Win 7...
