Anyone have a Kaoss Pad 3?

Dizz 12:10 AM - 21 November, 2007
Anyone using it with the TTM57?
nobspangle 1:56 PM - 21 November, 2007
The reports are that people who have them like them but find the output volume too low.
T.Digital 4:56 PM - 21 November, 2007
Yea, its awesome.. I haven't noticed the output volume being low though.. There's a firmware upgrade for the KP3 so that may help with any issues that were previously mentioned.

i love my kp3, no stress with output volume with latest firmware update

Really!
Thats great news.
Ive had mine since they dropped and have found the volume problem really dissapointing!
If the os fixes this Im in heaven!

OK sorry but the OS update for the KP3 didnt help the output level.
Basically when you use it with the 57 you have to turn the input up so that the KP3 is clipping to get the levels matched to when the flex fx is disengaged.
Sounds horrible when flex fx is engaged!!!

Please guys can you include a level boost option for the KP3/ flex fx on the next os update?
So the input on the kp3 can be set about 2- 4 db lower?
PLEASE!!!! :)

love that video!
but i guess i'll wait purchasing a KP3 until this is sorted out. Perhaps you can just buy some active +3dB amp unit. These things just gotta exist. Or else make em yourself :oP... no time to look eround for it unfortunately.
Dizz 11:18 AM - 3 December, 2007
YEah I know what you mean but that would add more unwanted noise to the signal chain and also more stuuf to plug in!!!
(I got enough shit already!!!) : )
T.Digital 2:19 PM - 3 December, 2007
I never noticed that.. try adjusting your aux in, input volume to see if that makes the signal meter higher. I'm gonna hook up my KP3 tonight and see what you're talking about.
Dizz 12:55 AM - 4 December, 2007
Aux in?
Its not connected to that.
As for the input volume on the KP3 thats all you can adjust.
If I set the trims on each channel on the 57 lower than unity it doesnt clip but its also not usually loud enough on most systems either (unless the gain on the main desk has enough headroom to crank it)

You need FX ins and outs on the TTM-57 which are at -10dBV. Rane might be able to make this happen via software - would be quite smart if they had selectable in/out rating like on a soundcard.
Dizz 2:54 AM - 5 December, 2007
Yeah deft!
Thats what Im hoping!!
Lets push for this!
Please Rane!

On a side note... What do you guys have your switch set to? Send or Direct. Mine only seems to work in Direct mode..????
In send, I only get sound when I press the trackpad.
Deft 5:33 PM - 5 December, 2007
Direct is the 'correct' mode for the TTM-57 (an effects insert).
cmcknite 6:08 PM - 5 December, 2007
Thanks deft!
Side note 2
I have the KP3 chained in with my EFX500 (for grins)
can I compensate for the lack of input volume by increasing the gain on my EFX???
Dizz 12:13 AM - 6 December, 2007
Cmcknite, yeah just keep the output gain on the efx500 up and the input gain on the kp3 down (so its not goin into the red on the input light.
(use the efx500 output volume to balance between the flexfx engaged and disengaged) I find using the test tone on the serato record a good way to hear this.
