I was using my VCI 300 with windows vista and everything was fine until I upgraded to the newest version of ITCH. It also will not recognize any of the mp3s in my windows media player, while recognizing the smaller amount I have in itunes..
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, still nothing works (flashing yellow sign and "hardware disconnected" displayed. This is frustrating and confusing since it was just working. and the computer recognizes the device and even says it is "ready to use."

Please, someone with the same problem and has fixed it, help me!

I installed ITCH on a desktop (never ran ITCH before and more than capable for this setup) and it still doesn't recognize my VCI 300... leading me to believe that the 2.1 update may have fried my VCI...

Any input is helpful, well anything that isn't saying to check my USB and what not.

Hi langdondt,

sorry to hear you're having these issues. Can you still use older versions of ITCH? When you mean won't recognize your mp3's, do you mean they don't show up in your library at all? Where do you have these tunes stored?

Have you tried alternate usb ports and cables?

None of the other ideas for a fix were helpful.

Yes, I tried every configuration possible
(all usb ports, new & old versions of ITCH, 2 separate midi / usb cables, starting the VCI on THRU then switching to PC, etc; all to no avail).

I think that the new software offered through the Serato website messes with the VCI 300's hardware/soundcard itself, as I even tried all the usb ports on a completely separate computer system.

The virtual turntables flicker on then disappear, or flicker then stick and make ITCH crash. ITCH does this quite often anyway even when it was somewhat reliable.

Any more ideas, or does my VCI need a fix already?

About the mp3's, they are simply not accessible with ITCH's browser from the folder they are in. I suppose I have to run whatever set / mix I want from a burned CD?

Does the VCI-300 light up?

Try this:

1) Connect your VCI-300.
2) Click the Windows Start button and go to Control Panel -> Device Manager.
3) Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section. The VCI-300 will show here as a USB Composite Device.
4) Right click on this and select Properties. Go to the Driver tab and click the Uninstall button.
5) When the "Confirm device uninstall" window pops up click OK.
6) Unplug & replug the VCI-300 - you will now get the "Installing device driver software" pop up in your toolbar.
7) Go back to Device Manager and expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers section. You should now the following devices:
* VCI 300
* VCI 300 DJ Controller
8) Now start ITCH - does it connect now?

I followed the steps and it still doesn't work. The virtual turntables pop up for a split second then disappear and it says hardware disconnected; then the program freezes up and doesn't respond. Sometimes I have to log off just to get the frozen ITCH to close out.

Yes, it lights up and is fully responsive (turntables light red when touched, buttons light up too). I just found out last night that the left wheel will still control a track (you know, even when neither virtual turntable is functioning you can still play a track).

Any more ideas?

Can you try this:

Close ITCH, Navigate to MyMusic>Serato
Rename the _Serato_ Folder to _Serato_Old
Open up ITCH again

Does it still crash?

Tried it, failed.
I don't know whats up with this... thought Serato was supposed to be pretty stable and bulletproof. I have a gig on March 3rd that I'm losing valuable practice time for.

My thoughts are still that the update messes with the VCI.

and the versions here?:

serato.com

2.0? 1.8?
langdondt 5:16 AM - 16 February, 2012
Both I tried and it doesn't work. Thought it's worth mentioning again that I tried the whole setup (original disc version) on another computer and it still wouldn't work.

Have you undertaken any firmware updates recently?

What's your firmware status in the Setup screen?
