If you're doing all your tagging within iTunes, try retagging the year info for those tracks using SSL and see if it sticks.

Only m4a files are affected for me as I posted here.

Are you retagging the year info in both iTunes and SSL?
iTunes <> SSL tag info writing/reading issues have been around since the beginning. The best workaround is to simply not import your music into SSL VIA iTunes, which is why we created this article > serato.com < Migrating your iTunes library and playlists to a Scratch Live library and crates.

When you have time, please attach one of those missing year tag tracks to this thread and I'll test it here :)

The Serato MPEG-4 tagger is broken, you can test it with any .m4a/.m4p file. This has nothing to do with iTunes!
Keeping your Serato and your iTunes library in sync is another story. You need to know how it works to do it correctly. It became much more difficult since Apple changed the behavior of "Get Info" when multiple files have been selected. Now you need scripts to update your iTunes library from the tags of your files after you have edited them outside of iTunes. In Serato products you can use the "Resan Tags" functionality to update your database/library. General rule: The tags in your files are always the master and the libraries/databases need to be updated from time to time.
Please note that iTunes manages two databases: The .itl file is the actual operational database while the .xml file is just a read-only snapshot of this database. Serato and any other software with iTunes integration is reading the .xml file. This is the reason why you are not able to modify your iTunes library from within ScratchLIVE or ITCH.

What version of iTunes are you all using?
Seems like this problem just came about after the last iTunes update.

Hey Justin,
I can reproduce this pretty easily and looks like it might be a bug. Have you tried re-encoding a file and stripping the tags and then re-tagging at all?
Sam.

I've let the developers know about this and they are doing some more investigation currently. I couldn't say how quickly a fix will come for this though as we are still looking into it. I can say that we will fix it though, i just couldn't say when at this stage sorry.
Cheers,
Sam.
