I am having USB dropout issues for about 3 days now. Thursday, I installed Itch so I can have it on my PC whenever I play with my friend's NS7. On Saturday, I went to play at the club using using turntables and and the ttm-57. I started experiencing USB Dropouts every few seconds. I increased the buffer size, no difference. On Sunday, I set up my equipment at home using SL-1. I continued to have dropouts. I decided to uninstall Itch and I am still experiencing dropouts. I tried using a different USB port, same issues. I never had these kind of issues before. I am using a PC, Vista (64), 2.4Ghz Duo Core processor, 4Gb RAM.

I've also attached a screenshot of the dropout and what the task manager was currently doing.

Hey MIkey,
Basically anything that hits over 500us in a trace report could be causing dropouts.
It looks like your computer is in need of some updates.
Go to the manufacturer of your computer's website and see if there are any BIOS or chipset updates. Also get any needed Windows updates.
I would also suggest doing everything suggested in this article to help strip down your setup for music --> serato.com

Can you tell me what's causing it? I updated the BIOS, chipset and performed all the Windows updates. I'm still getting USB dropouts.

I've also uninstalled/reinstalled all the USB drivers. I'm still getting dropouts! This is getting frustrating. Please help

This problem began the first time I used the Serato after installing Itch. I wonder...

I've also completely uninstalled/reinstalled SL 2.3.1 and still got the USB dropouts.

Now that you've done all the updates and tweeks please post another report.
If you look at the report anything that spikes over 500us will be causing dropouts.
From there, do a google search for the particular problem spot such as NDIS.sys.
You will then get info on what it is and hopefully how to fix it or disable it.
Worst case scenario you'll need to reinstall your OS.

Here is the newest report. Please analyze and let me know what you see... I really appreciate it Zach.

It doesn't look like you made any adjustments to your system or stripped anything down.
Open Task manager.
How many processes do you have running?
It doesn't look like you disabled your Network adapters yet (NDIS.sys).
There are some other system things causing issues.
module hal.dll --> www.google.com
tcpip.sys --> www.google.com
iastor.sys --> www.google.com
I'm not a computer tech so I'm not sure what all those problem spots are or how to fix them. Those are your problem spots though.
At this point it may be best if you took your computer to a specialist and had them strip down this stuff for you.

There are 54 processes running now. I modified my startup programs and modified the services as well from starting up. I don't know what else to do. I need Serato to work for my club performances. =(

Went to those google links Zach posted above. I reckon you might have got a virus. It annoys me when people assume that with Windows machines but it your case I think it might be the answer.
If it was me, I would go scorched earth: Wipe it, clean install.

I would agree with phatbob on that.
Your computer is definitely above spec.
Your processes are not high.
You've said you've gotten all the updates.
I'm guessing there is a virus gumming up your computer.
Unfortunately locating such bugs is often not an easy task on a Windows machine.
I've had to reinstall my OS on Windows more times that I can count because of such issues.

That's what sucks. I searched for viruses, rogue's, rootkits, etc. BTW, I'm good at removing pc infections, did that for a living for a couple of years... IDK what else to do. I have a gig tonight and we'll see how it goes. I might just wipe it clean like you guys suggested... Ugh but it's soooo time consuming... but I have to do what I have to do. ARG!!!!

Ya I feel your pain. I'm not a computer tech so I'm not entirely versed on fixing such an issue but it does sound like something is gumming up the OS.
We've done what I know of to fix any typical problems due to the OS being overrun with processes. You may want to get a PC pro to have a look at your computer prior to reinstalling the OS just to make sure all the bases have been covered.

I tried to use my laptop last night at my gig and still experienced dropouts during sound check. So I decided to borrow my roommate's laptop, same model, and install SSL. It worked perfectly! BTW, I used 2.3.1 on both laptops. So now I know for sure it is my laptop. Now I am in the process of reinstalling the OS. Thanks for all your help Zach.
Indy: I would use 2.3.1 until they fix the bugs on 2.3.3.

I am using 2.2.0 and its working ok, i think. the only thing is on my vaio when analyzing the files it froze and on my hp its still analyzing the files almost 16hrs later.
every time i download a new version, do i need to analyze my tracks

No you don't have to analyze when you download a new version. If you analyze all your tracks, it will take a long time i.e. 16+ hours depending on how many tracks you have. I have SSL set to analyze the tracks as I play them rather than sit there and wait for that long. You'll probably never play all your tracks so there is no need to analyze each one. I have 40,000 tracks in my library and I have used maybe 10,000. HAHA. Let SSL analyze as you play the track. I just finished reformatting my laptop and reinstalling my entire OS. I'll know tomorrow if this works or not.

Yeah let me know.
I took your advice and installed 2.3.1 and so far I tested it at home for about 4 hrs straight and no drop out. This was on my vaio, which was dropping out after a few minutes so today I will try it on my hp.
Thanks again,. you have given me the best advice so far.
Good luck to you

Hey fellas! Great news! I completely reformatted my laptop and reinstalled the OS and everything. I tested SSL and success! NO MORE DROPOUTS! I'm so happy! In conclusion, it had to be a corrupted driver that caused the laptop to malfunction. Thanks Zach for all your help.
Indy: That's great to hear! 2.3.1 is pretty cool until they fix the 2.3.3. Let me know how it goes. Good luck to you.

Great news Mikey:)
I will say that it is suggested to re-analyze your entire library when updating to 2.3.3 as Serato made some tag editing changes.
