Hey $tyles,

Scratch Live and ITCH are quite different programs. Even though they use the same Library and crates as each other ITCH is a lot more memory hungry.

How slow are we talking?

We talking like 10 - 15 mins. I would close the program down and bring it back up like 3 times and then the forth time, it would come up in a fair quick time. What can i do to make it come up faster the first time?

Hey Dj $tyles,

Yeah this is a lot of crates for ITCH to load fast for sure. This maybe your issue, however I'd like to try to looking at your Serato Folder. Could you please .Zip your Serato folder and sending it through to me. Will do some tests this end and go from there.
(Just the Serato Folder not the music)

Make sure there's no recordings in there DJ $tyles, don't need those and they'll differently take that Serato folder up in size! Let me know how you go :)

Hey DJ $tylez,

You have a veeeery large number of crates in your library which is quite hard on ITCH - because of this it's going to take a while to start up as it is utilizing quite a lot of memory.
Having said that you may be able to make it go faster. I noticed when I loaded up your crates it was running into several errors with some of your crates, so what you should do is recreate these crates and delete the original version of these crates.

So can you please do these three things for me :

1. With ITCH closed open up your _Serato_ folder and rename the 'History' folder to 'OLDHistory'. Your history won't show up in ITCH now but it may have with the load-time of your crates.
2. Now I noticed that you had a Subcrates folder inside your Subcrates folder. I'm not sure how or why it's like this. I want you to copy all the contents of your Subcrates folder (the one inside the first) back into the main first one. Then delete the now empty 2nd Subcrates folder. So you should now have all your crate/subcrate files inside Music > _Serato_ > Subcrates
3. Now open up ITCH and while it's loading your crates look at the bottom bar and write down the names of the crates and subcrates that it says 'An error occured while reading (name of crate)'. Write these all down and when it finishes loading them all, locate these crates one by one and copy all the contents of the crate into a new crate (call it the same thing) and then delete the old one. So basically you are just going through and recreating these error-crates on by one, then deleting the old version.

I'm not sure how many crates you will have to do this for but hopefully it's not too long. In the future we will be fixing this so that ITCH can deal with these problem crates like Scratch Live can but for now this is the only workaround unfortunately.

Let me know how you go or if you have any questions :)

So I perform the first 2 steps and now I'm trying to do the step 3 and i open up ITCH twice and I get the error at the bottom and then ITCH closes down on me. It's done it twice now.
DJ $tylez 7:58 PM - 3 February, 2012
After 5 tries, I've gotten the ITCH closes down 5 times now.
DJ $tylez 10:53 PM - 3 February, 2012
ok so now i deleted my serato folder and changed the backup one to the serato folder and everything is fine.

Hey sorry for the late reply mate! Is everything sorted now with your backup folder?
DJ $tylez 1:35 AM - 11 February, 2012
well i upgraded my memory to 8gb and i still have a little bit of lagtime with ITCH when it starts up. I leave it alone and go on with what i need to do. I'm not DJing any gigs at the moment so I'm good to go. thanks again for the help.

I got a question, I have two Serato folders, one is one my main hard drive and the other one is on my DJ Stylez Music Folder (I partitioned my mac hard so I can have my music on one without messing with the OS.) Should I rename both history files?
DJ $tylez 12:46 AM - 18 February, 2012
I went back and tried those steps you told me to take and ITCH would crash on me everytime I tried opening it. I did go back and rename the Searto backup as the serato folder so it would create another serato backup and that seemed to have fixed it however, after a few days I'm back at square one. I believe I will just continue to perform this until a new fix is available. Thank you for your help.

Hey DJ $tylez,

I'm a little confused, what exactly is the problem you are having now? ITCH crashes everytime you open it? And to remedy this you have to remake the Serato folder and then it works? But it soon happens again is that right? What Serato folder are you renaming? The main OS one or the DJ Stylez Music Folder one?

Let me know as much info about the problem as you can and we'll fix it :)
DJ $tylez 2:27 AM - 22 February, 2012
Yeah it crashes when I do the steps you tell me to do. So i rename the serato folder on the main OS, should i not have the serato folder on the DJ Stylez music folder?

What steps exactly? I told you to do quite a lot of things. When exactly does it crash?

Scratch Live/ITCH will create a Serato folder on any drive that you import music from - it's supposed to be there. Do you have a backup folder on your DJ Stylez music folder? If so can you try using this Serato backup folder as well as the backup on your main OS drive.

If you don't have a Backup folder on your DJ Stylez drive then simply rename the Serato folder here to OLDSerato. Now open up ITCH. Your library won't have any of the music or crates that were on your DJ Stylez drive but that's okay we can recover them later on, I just want to get it so that it doesn't crash first.
DJ $tylez 2:18 AM - 29 February, 2012
First thing:
i had all my stuff using the serato folder on my DJ $tylez music folder. So just maybe, I need to get rid of my Serato folder on my main OS and just use the one on my DJ $tylez Serato music folder right?

Second thing:
When I performed all 3 steps and reopened ITCH, it would load my Itunes crates and then would go and load my regular crates, it would tell me which crates had problems and then it would crash. should i have tried one step, then load ITCH?

There always will be a Serato folder on your main OS drive, that's where a lot of the settings etc are stored even if you have no music on this drive.

I'm still a little confused. Is your problem that every time you open ITCH it crashes while loading your crates? If so, then I want you to do this :

Please upload the Serato folder on your Main OS drive and the Serato folder on your DJ $tylez drive. I want to see if it crashes for me, if it does I should be able to find the culprit.
DJ $tylez 10:46 PM - 2 March, 2012
I believe it won't crash anymore because I got rid of the Serato folder on the main drive and then just opened ITCH and it created a new Serato folder on the main one. I opened ITCH and it didn't crash and it didn't take long for it to load but I will send them to you anyway just to make sure.

So it hasn't been crashing since your renamed the Serato folder on the main drive?

That's good to know, at least we know now where the problem was. I would imagine it was the databasev2 file on there - or something along the lines of.
DJ $tylez 2:27 AM - 7 March, 2012
i would believe so
