Performance Guarentee - Guitar Center

djbriguy 3:52 PM 6 November 2007
I bought one of my Numark CDX's (dont laugh) last October.

Its being buggy as shit now. I think it was one from the buggy 2004 batch. Well, it needs replaced. No question. There's nothing that can fix this thing. I'm going to guitar center tonight and demand they replace it IN-STORE. How are my odds?

Has anyone ran into this problem when buying gear from GC?

I chatted with a guy on their tech support page. Here's what I got.

Sean: Hi, my name is Sean. How may I help you?

Unknown: I purchased a Numark CDX from guitar center in September 2006. I purchased the Performance gaurentee. The CDX is now faulty and doing alot of "weird things" at my gigs. I'd like to know what steps I need to take to get it replaced. I asked the DJ services rep at my local store, and he had no idea what I was talking about.

Sean: did you purchase the item at a store or online
Unknown: at a store. I have the receipt also. (not with me because i am at work)

Sean: alright then they should give you a new one or at least repair it take it in to the store and if you bought the warranty your all set

Unknown: So take it to the store. Should i bring my receipt also? I still have the paper work from my performance gaurentee also. Should i bring that? A few more questions. If it needs repairs, are they done in store? Or is the unit sent to Numark? Also, if it needs replaced (which I believe it does, some of the things its doing is unheard of, i think its a buggy unit) will they replace it in store? Or will they need to ship it to Numark and have them ship a new one?

Sean: yes bring all your paperwork and im not sure about the repairs but they would replace it in store

Unknown: Ok thanks so much. You've been very helpfull

print that shit out, the online convo and bring that with you too.
i am sure they will replace it, whats the warranty? 1 or 2 years?
djbriguy 4:03 PM 6 November 2007
1 year warranty on CDX from Numark I believe. (may be 2 yr)

Guitar Center Performance Gaurentee covers the equipment for 2 years AFTER the manufacture warranty.

Update
Guitar Center in Richmond VA is the shit!

No questions asked. I walked in, showed them my Performance Gaurentee paper work, he called his manager up, I explained what was wrong with it, and boom, exchanged for a brand new one.

Actually, it worked out better. He said "We can give you a check for what you paid, or exchange it"

Well its priced at $599 now. I paid $649. So I got the check, got the new one, and added the Performance Gaurentee to that also. So i'm good for another 2 years.

At first, they did say I needed to call the number on the Performance Gaurentee paper work first... And i lied and said I did, and they told me to come in the store.

I did turntables when i began DJing.
Then went to Dual CD decks.
Then CDXs.

I like the feel of turntables, and using them over the CDXs...
I just like the fact that i Don't need to buy needles, control records, worry about calibration/bass in a club, tonearms... just all the stuff that comes with turntables.

Just my personal opinion I guess. Trust me. I've gotten alot of flack from TT users. So its cool.

He really likes it though.

CDX's are the closest thing I could get to real turntables without the added hassle of buying records, changing needles, grounding... and all that stuff.

Of course I bought my CDX's in 2004 back when SSL first came out... So it made sense to get SSL. Its like the best of both worlds. Control of a vinyl 12" platter + SSL = BOOYAH

ahhhhahahha. good one

Only in relative mode!!! Its cuz i'm such a sweet beat juggler that the control signal cant keep up with my fast back-cue'ing :P

I'm a big fan of absolute mode though. I use cue points just to mark parts of the song... like breakdowns n stuff
Certified Quality Entertainment 9:54 PM 7 November 2007
Hahahha. Im sure that's it! haha

Yea, I use absolute mode exclusivly when I am on my Dual Denon CD players for my mobile gigs. But I rock relative mode on my TTs and my 57 :)
djbriguy 9:56 PM 7 November 2007
Oh if i had a 57 I'd still rock it... sticker drift or not. Its just a pain to recal cue points from the keyboard...

I used relative mode the other night while mixing into a song... and i felt like a tool-box as i'm pressing "6" over and over to hit the beat. I felt like a microwave.
Certified Quality Entertainment 10:00 PM 7 November 2007
hahaha...

Yea, with my Denon, I am so used to the CD player functionality of it that I always use absolute. My TTs, even before my 57 i used relative. But I don't use the 57 with the dual denon since it doesn't fit in my case
Nicky Blunt 10:10 PM 7 November 2007
i was not knocking you for using them! remeber i have 1 myself!

just wondering that was all.
