just bought this. pretty sweet as now i don't have to lug a big MBox around when i'm out of town and trying to edit tracks or PT sessions. anyone else peep this yet? not worth the $250 on it's own IMO...but you do get a copy of Pro Tools with it. here's the link to the digidesign site..

Can't you get the lowest, personal mbox with recording capabilities for $250 anyway? So this is really just for if you know you're only gonna wanna be editing/mixing, and you wanna do it on the run like you said.

They should sell the micro without the software for $ 150.
I already have a mbox 2 i don't want to pay for the software again.

i still have 2 of the original MBox interfaces and use them often. i purchased the MBox 2 Pro (with firewire) last year when it came out but have been extremely disappointed with it. Digidesign was very sneaky by making the Pro model only compatible with an external HD setup (and it's very picky on which HDs it will support). it seems that i can only get it to register a connection like half the time. so...i use the MBox 1 more often than the Pro (and for what i use it for...recording/editing vinyl and recording mixes it works just fine).
i agree though, they should offer the Micro without the software...because that's really what you are paying for when you buy it. the Micro hardware itself can't be more than 20-30 bucks at most in parts (prob less even). and it really is not a replacement for buying a "full" Pro Tools system. it's only a portable "audio out" interface to allow an established PT user to take their editing on the road without having to haul around a bulky interface.
