Thanks for putting a roof over my head for the weekend!! In the unfortunate event that you (or anyone for that matter) end up in the D, you're always welcome to crash @ my place.
...And we don't have bullshit $50 street cleaning parking tickets. :)

Shadow. I would have to agree with most of what U said, the D does suck BUT it is unique and I like it (not Love - but like).
I am a product of Detroit public schools, luckily I went to Cass Tech HS instead of my neighborhood high school so I saw the decline of downtown Detroit firsthand in the early 80's went away to Eastern (only saw downtown at night on weekends- watched it slowly die) and came back to work at Techno Blvd when the scene was blowing up and downtown had truly died. The techno scene took me to Miami, NYC, and Chi-town a lot, and later working for Luke took me to other cities in the midwest (KY, OH, Iowa) and it was VERY depressing to come home.
Last year, I was downtown on a Summer night going to Belle Isle for a annual House Music picnic (picking up equipment). I saw Comerica Park lit up at night for the first time and it took my breath away, I actually pulled over and stared at the shit for a minute. I drove further and saw Campus Martius active, Hart Plaza with people, took the dip towards Jefferson and saw activity at Chene park.
Fuck, this is becoming a real city again.
That one night showed me there is some hope for Detroit. Again, all that is for the suburbanites who come into the city, but it is a start. It will be a Loooongg time before it reaches the Hood where I live, but these little strip malls and shopping plazas are a start.
Financially and economically we are so fucked. The next year or two will be a living hell because those Auto industry cats that had a High School education and were making $30-50 per hour plus benefits now are going to be working for $12 & 15 per hour. They can't pay the bills and buy weed too.
It's gonna be real, real tight, but it will be nice if we survive this decade.

i hope so ART....
it does suck all the schools i went to are closed now..
i drove down in my old neighborhood a while back it was sad.i went past clark park ( a huge park we used to play baseball and basketball in ).there where nobody playing sports or hanging out.i can remember playing basketball in the alley's with milk crate's nailed to a telephone pole for 5-6 hours with the whole neighborhood playing.we would play tournaments that would last forever.lol.
i agree that the city looks better downtown but everything around the city is crumbling.i hope it keeps getting better.

u know, I remember when I was a kid and the ideal future...like with many, would be graduate high school and work for GM. this is back in elementary/middle school. now, there is one plant open still in flint.
my uncle was laid off his 100,000 dollar salary, but was paid 50k a year while laid off until his 4yr from retirement back in 97'. he was lucky. my ex gfs father, back in 03' had a salary cut from 150,000 to 50,000. both with high school educations.
I wish my dad went that route. he has been a cop for 24 yrs in flint and barely makes more than seattles police new recruits.
flint is one of the only cities the have pulled its mayor and have the state take over because the city had absolutely no money left.
michigan as a state is fucked. that's why u see all these huge companies from out of state recruiting there. everybody leaves.
