Please forgive me for the long post but I am trying desperatley to understand how to use the sync function on iTch.

Can someone please advise me on the differences between the 2 syncs?
Please correct me if I'm wrong -

In 1.7.1 there was just "simple sync" where if you pressed sync on a deck it would make the bpm equal to the other deck. You would loose control of the pitch fader and if you hit sync again while the track was playing it would bring the track to it's original pitch speed.

In 2.0.1, when you load the initial track, you have to push sync on that deck and then push sync on the second deck. Sync on deck 2 will be enabled ONLY when you hit play, NOT cue points.
When sync is enabled, you have the option (unlike in 1.7.1) to use the pitch fader.

Once this is done, sync will be "engaged" at all times UNLESS you click shift & sync. This is called "Smart Sync.

If "enable beat grids" is not checked, this means that while smart sync is enabled, the tracks can sway off beat and need to be manually monitored by using the platters or pitch keys to make sure the 2 tracks stay aligned and on beat. If "enable beat grids" is checked" the 2 tracks are automatically locked in when in sync mode and no manual monitoring is needed.

Am I correct on all of the above?
And if you don't mind, can you advise me on the difference between 2.0.1 and 2.1 beta?

Thanks

not 100% correct.
sync will only stay on until the next time you hit cue or load a new track. as soon as you do that it goes 'back' to auto tempo without sync. if you wanna have sync again you'd have to hit the sync button again (the sync field in ITCH will get a blue background then)
