Missing Video Clip feature in Video-SL

Tiger4life 11:28 PM - 28 December, 2011
I am looking for a nice feature that allows me to play repeatedly during a live performance a custom video that I create with my DJ logo.I used Roxio software to make a short video of my DJ logo using 50 different transition effects.I create one for the club where I spin at as well.I want to be able to set up the video to play continuously when I switch to audio files or if my main mix is consisted of music files only.Video-SL allows us to do something similar with the Image effect but only 3 crossfading effects give me what I want(Grid 2x2,Swap,Box Both). We want the Audio to be replaced by Video in the Effects section of Setup. The "Enable Audio Effects" can be moved to Control right below "End Video with Audio".We want that feature to be inserted in the Video section of Effects. It would be nice if we can load up to 4 videos and select them to play one after another.Virtual DJ got this feature and call it "Clipbank".Let's have this feature in the next update.Thank you....

VDJ has one that's even better!! There's a total of 48 clips all with sound and it doesnt matter what format (flv, swf, mp4, etc...) the window is resizable and can all be controlled via midi. I'd like to see that in Serato.

Hey, i cosign your request, however, if you are on a Mac, you can check these out, as they provide a workaround for almost everything you want:

@thesoundinsurgent....I appreciate the input bro but we only need something simple that will make a huge difference in visual performance while DJing. The image effect in VSL can be boring to the crowd after a while due to lack of multiple effects and also it consumes time since the DJ has to change the effect settings everytime.By having a custom video of our DJ logo played continuously in the background while making the crowd jump with audio files and still have the capability to switch to video files mixing instantly by bypassing the video effect right in the player window makes it a fantastic option.I remember I have watched a couple of your DJ logo videos on youtube so this option would really impress the crowd and demand less work from us to keep playing one-shot samples of our DJ name so we can stay focused on the mix.We would also have the option to dedicate more processing power to VSL instead of running VDJ in the background to do the job.
@radikarl....I'll check it out later. Thanks bro

Mix Emergency support?

not yet but could do it...
maybe in january

@radikarl....Thanks for the help. The continuous movie quartz works fine for me in less than 5 minutes. However, we have a big problem over here the fact that SSL doesn't allow us to associate a single video to multiple audio files.Imagine that I want my logo video to play for a library of about 50.000 songs.I would be homeless by losing my job sitting home associating the compositions to each audio track. What's next?

Thats what Im saying, I have 48 different styles of my logo. Some with sound some without. With the press of a button I can fade an animated logo in during the transition. Then I can hit the same button and fade the logo out after Ive made the transition. It can be transparent or resized. Ive asked the company that made the plugin if they could do the same for Serato. Theyve also made a badass Text-2-Screen plugin which is the shit!! These are just a few things that keep me from making the switch...

We have a common frustration with Serato that's getting worse because the SSL team ignore what we're feeling.I don't know why every other DJ software offer what DJs need to perform professionally but Serato is still dragging their feet.Let me just add my two cents since you brought that up.I notice that VSL cut off the top and bottom part of my logo that I choose as image effect.I think that the Output section of the Setup is missing some features related to media manipulation. They need to add zoom and resize in Media Treatment. When we select those two options a fader will show up on the right that will allow us to zoom in/out, resize the image chosen as effect so it can fit the screen properly. If that makes sense to them we should see an update soon.
I understand you on the switching part because I myself dumped SSl since January 2011 in favor of Traktor after they released T2.However, I just moved back to the US from Japan and the club I spin at has TTM 57SL installed so I switched back to SSL since both software supports ID3 v2.3 format right now for God's sake.I simply drag and drop my playlists to SSL from Traktor. The transfer is reciprocal for DJs who are taking notes.

They finally listen to us and implement a lot of recommendations above in Serato Video to mention that we can resize the image chosen as effect and even position it wherever we like on the Output screen. We're still missing the video effect that I really want for my logo. They can either add a feature "multiple video files association" that works the same way as the clip art where we can just select all the audio files in the library and drag the video file to the window. That option is bit harder due to the fact that we have to update all the audio files we add to the library later. If we can just select a video file just like the image and set it up as effect that would be awesome. Our DJ video logo would be playing on the screen throughout the whole gig no matter what type of songs we're playing.

Serato video already does this. The logo will stay on screen regardless if you're playing video or audio. You have to set the output for the middle screen and click "on" Job done.
DJ Tecniq 10:15 PM - 16 June, 2012
middle screen aka main output screen

You missed my whole point because you didn't pay enough attention.First of all Serato Video doesn't have any 'video effect".I mentioned video effect not image effect. The difference between those two is I use my logo to make a custom video using 50 different effects.I can only associate the video to audio files individually. The image effect only offers 3 such BPM, Bass Zoom etc...My recommendation was to implement a feature that allows me to associate the video to multiple files or crates or simply use the video as a video effect that works exactly like the image effect.

Job well done.Everything that was mentioned in this discussion plea has been implemented in the latest Serato Video. They do listen to us though even though they took forever. We just gotta be patient after we voice our idea.Lol

im pretty sure the competition factor had more to do with it. im pretty sure if it wasnt for ME, VIdeo SL would still be alive. On life support, mind you... but still alive.
skinnyguy 7:04 PM - 26 April, 2013
last i remember, most ME users have a legit copy of VSL/SV. if anything it's because of ME that SV is still alive.

when i say alive, i mean being actively used...

i planned on using SV with my vci 300...but since the ME hack, SV is collecting dust.

and im pretty sure its safe to say that most SV users are:

A) noobs to video(not on a professional level with their videos)

and/or

B) djing on a pc
skinnyguy 6:48 AM - 27 April, 2013
ah. well, in that case, yea.

Oh how i want to agree with this.... But i can't. There are a few (not many) "pro's" (people doing it for a living) on SV...... I can't understand why. It is really only the uneducated, stubborn, few. But worth mentioning for arguments sake.
