The Lakers are in a F'ed up position. Their star player wants to leave,and he makes a ton of money. His salary makes(good)trades impossible. He has a no-trade clause(which is stupid on the Lakers part)so if they came up with a good deal with another team or teams, he could veto it.

The Lakers are gonna have to trade him this year or next year or risk losing him totally without getting anything for him since he can(I'm not sure which)opt-out or becomes a free agent in 2009.


They are screwed either way. They WILL NOT get fair market value for Kobe. That trade that was reported was terrible. It will only get worse as time goes by. The Lakers have some tough decisions to make. The Lakers made their bed, and now they have to lay in it. They made some bonehead descisions(SHAQ)in the past and are now dealing with the results of bad decisions.

fans do not understand about free-agency sometimes. they HAVE to trade this kid if they have no chance of keeping him once he has the opt out. i mean look at the yankees. alex rodriguez will walk in free agency and they will get jackshit for him.

if you think the lakers suck now, let kobe opt out and get nothing for him and then see how much they suck.
