So is he using ITCH in the video or SL1/SL3/4? I checked out the Vestax VFX-1 and it says it only works with the Vestax controller and/or ITCH.
So I assume this won't work in SL1?

Hey DJ4LMNTZ,
He's using Scratch Live 2.3.3 - the Vestax VFX-1 is a natively supported controller for Scratch Live software DJ-FX, as well as being an official FX controller for ITCH. If you plug it it to your computer when running Scratch Live, it is pre-mapped to control the software FX.

Thanks! I've been using my APC40 mapped out to Serato for blending but despite having all the knobs and sliders in the world for effects, I think that VFX-1 would make things a bit tidier and easier

please tell me one thing, with two usb slots... how do I hook up serato, dicer and vfx ? ;) that = 3 usb cables... is it allright to connect the dicer and the vfx-1 via a splitter ? will serato see both controlers and pre-asign preset values to them ?
let me know since this is the only issue I have to cover before I buy the VFX-1.
Thanks.

DJwenc, invest in a little multiple USB Hub (I got a Belkin with 7 spots for $40) and if it lags or has latency, you can invest a little more into upgrade your USB to Firewire for maximum speeds

Hey Djwenc,
You can connect multiple controllers by using a powered USB hub. The Dicers and the VFX-1 are both native controllers for Scratch Live, so when you plug them in they're already pre-mapped and ready to go :)

powered usb hub means that I have to suply external power for the hub ?
1 x usb in to laptop - hub with for example 3 usb slots and this schit pluged in to power or does it suck the power via the laptop usb port?

You'll need it powered externally if you're wanting to power more than one device of a single USB port. So, one USB hub plugged into a USB port, powered with an external power supply, that you can plug multiple controllers into.

Great video!!! I'm also quite new to this whole Dicer/VFX-1 equip too... 1st: how do the Dicers hook up to/stay on Vestax PDX turntables? 2nd: when you say it's pre-mapped, do you mean it'll automatically pick up the que points/loops that I've already set up?
Thanks!

We're still learning new things about Serato each day. The question we have, is there any plans in the future to allow DJ's to analyze MP3's and music files with having the plug out the SL1,2,3 or 4's ? It's pretty time consuming at times when we receive tons of new music but we have to analyze all the files with the SL4 unplugged, and then plug the SL4 back in. How about a "right click" file analyze function like Traktor ?

Open up Serato without your Sl1/2/3/4 plugged in and you CAN analyse files! Just hit the inconspicuous "Analyze Files" button!

Sorry I made a typo on my last post. We want to know if there are any plans in the future to enable DJ's to analyze files with the SL1/2/3/4 plugged in? It seems like a simple fix.

Happy Holidays to everyone.
When is Serato going to join the rest of the world and let us have the Pitch Control in All Modes?
You can't rely on club turntables all the time. Some have spilt beer or their pitch controls are off.
It should be in the next release. A very simple thing.

Scratch Live doesn't allow you to analyze files with your interface plugged in to ensure that you don't accidentally hit "Analyze Files" during a live gig - analyzing files is very CPU intensive and will cause audio drop outs - not something you want happening in front of a large crowd!

You could use "Autofill Overviews" though, which would read through the file after you load it to a deck.

An inspiring video!! :)
As a DJ with more focus on beat matching and extended sets, I love to see how more tactile performances and turntablism have developed in the world of digital djing.
I am a huge fan of Serato's FX development and versalitility and constantly wonder why so many of my contemporaries blindly follow Traktor...
For those of you who aren't into the layout of the Vestax control in the video, you can in fact very easily midi map most controllers exactly how you want it within Serato ( I use an NI X1 which confuses Traktor people ;)
Just click the "MIDI" button near the top-right of the program, click on the function you want to assign to your controller, then move the knob / button you want to use and you are done.
This is a huge difference from Traktor (where it can take hours to map a controller) and was a big sell point for me.
One area that I haven't fully explored yet is the true range of Serato's latest FX updates; I only use an HPF, LPF and Reverb but this becomes redundant if I am using a Xone. Can anyone recommend some other good configurations for Serato's FX panel?

If you already have a good laptop, probably $700-1000 for decent gear, excluding speakers

Nice demo, Nick! Is it me or is there a new model of the TTM - 57? I see the red lines are new to the faceplate, but looks to me the group buttons 1-6 are raised. If so, smart move, since I'm about to send mine in to get buttons 1-3 and the cue button swapped out due to wear and tear. Happy holidays to all!

One problem I've been having with the new patch is that under the DJ-FX tab in SL1, it won't allow me to change the beat that the effect(s) go over (ex. 2/1, 1, 1/2, etc). It didn't glitch like this until I downloaded this update

When are they bringing out the rane/serato controller?!?!?! I was discussing this with Zach S a while back but still have not heard or seen anything yet.
I want a rane/serato controller that matches my sl3! Not an NI or Vestax unit.

Question? what other Itch related controllers will VFX1 work with? It's mentioned above it will work with Itch, but curious if I can use as additional FX controller for NS7.

Nice routine Nick! Who ever thought that Serato guy who's always so friendly and helpful in the forums would rip those orbits apart!? Well, maybe those of you who know him. I had no idea.
Really dope, I'm loving the technical/musical balance. Kudos!
