Who's Booked For New Years Already?

Well, supposedly, the new club opens on New Years (or before), so I should be there. If not, then I'm gonna take it off like last year. It was so relaxing just my girl and I at the beach.

von kuf undercut you swift ?don't laugh,. this isn't a joke. all the promoters at the atrium were really impressed how much this cat put into their party FOR FREE. they also took note at the fact that despite the fact he had a really shitty room, his room was PACKED ALL NIGHT. hot ass chicks and everything,.
yeah, puma, uno seis, cquence and myself rocked it and kept the party moving but the promoters don't look at what we did as making them a whole lot of money. they look at it as THEY brought the people and WE rocked them.
so we have cats like von-u-kuff and cquence's boys, mix armada, who are DJs AND promoters. i'm not saying anything,.. i'm just sayin ...

djs rock people brought by promoter
i guess if you do both for free its really hard to fight against...we all know its not about talent in this area
im thinkin we really need to ban together and do everything ourselves...there are a lot of good dudes here with talent im sure we could pool the talent into somthing great

Promoting is the way to go, cuz sadly at the end of the day its about who can bring in people to make money. Skills are secondary. My homeys found there niche in the game and are makin a good name for themselves in OC without doing shady business.... More power to em. We can do something about it though and take control. It was talked about in another post that died off quickly.

It's all yours homie.
Yeah, that guy was awesomely bad. "Japan's #1 hip hop DJ" my ass.
To keep it on topic, it sounds like some of you guys are being put into this "promote or die" situation, which sucks. However, that's the nature of the biz - promoters want to push their events and they want everyone involved to put the word out there.
I don't necessarily promote my events in the sense that I'm hitting up random people but I do email blasts to my personal network - 'work' is more fun when the homies come out, right?
Steve Dub.

sorry to interrupt: i just want to say that one manager tried to book me for 150USD for nye to play from 9pm to 3am...
it was tempting - i almost agreed - than i laughed at his face - didn't reply at all - turned my back and hope he never talks to me again
house-party with all the friends, cheap gear (ya know.. stanton tts, numark mixer, dell laptop, etc.) and everybody will have a chance to spin a couple tunes, do the mighty scratch (the one were the needle goes across the record, not the one where it seats in the groove and the record goes back and forth)...
a hell of a good time, loads of drinking and since the house is in the country side, we can try to make our ears bleed with the volume up of 4 400w speakers in a big living room with 40 people in there...
*sigh*
:)
p.s. - i love nye partys...

About the von kuf dude, I wonder what the big picture is? If he's doing the shit for free for other promoters, he is building his name and a following with their crowd. One day, he can break wide on his own and steal their crowd while the other promoters fight among themselves.
Ruthless if that is the plan but Smart dude... Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Wonder if he has a club in the future.
Here's his bio cube since U are blocked at work.
Von U-KUF has performed in numerous Rave Underground Parties and After Hour clubs. He performed weekly for over a year at closed parties at Company B's in New York and New Jersey performing Drum and Bass House.
Chicago - Von U-KUF was a Techno/House feature at "Kustom". One of the largest clubs in the city of Chicago. He developed a strong following that regularly filed the 15,000 square foot club once a week for over 2 years.
Los Angles - Von U-KUF created the his own House/Techno/Dominatrix/Fetish" style. This has been incredibly successful. This style has created a huge following of hundreds of people. Also many Mansion and private Party's through out Los Angeles.
Equipment - Von U-KUF spins on 4 Pioneer CDJ - 1000's through a Pioneer 800 mixer. He works from a collection of over 2000 CD's and ½ a Terra drive of computer based music.
Performance - The VON U-KUF performance includes as many "Professional Dancers" as needed. They are choreographed to fit the exact nature of the performance. It also includes several floor dancers designed to create excitement and focal points in the club and on the dance floor.
All for free? Watch in the next year or two, he will have the market cornered on his own as a promoter.
I have been dabbling in the promoter game here and there for the House scene and I am hoping to pull together a NYE gig with some other local promoters.

I got two offers for NYE. I turned one down already. NYE is usually the day I like to party with my friends. This year Tiesto is in town, so I really wanna go see him. But I got a really tempting gig i haven't turned down.
Venue: THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM
Event: DESVELADA SUPER ESTRELLA
Perks: HEADLINE, RADIO COMMERCIALS, TV COMMERCIALS, 4000 People!!!!
It's the second year they ask me to DJ there. Last year I turned it down too, and this year I'm thinking about it. If I go see Tiesto, I'm going with some friends. If I DJ here, I'll be with a lot more friends!!!!
I dunno how to negotiate this gig. It's the same promoters I've been playing all year for. They offered me $500. I'm thinking of asking for $500, a bottle of Grey Goose, and passes for my friends. What you guys think? Cuz honestly, NYE is the only time I get to actually spend time with my friends.

Couldn't get away without doing that in Scotland, they take their "Hogmanay" pretty seriously - and after all, Auld Lang Syne was written by Scottish hero Robert Burns; a DJ who didn't play that in some form or other would probably have whiskey poured on him and get set on fire.
Plus, on that one night of the year, anyone who thinks doing that is too cheesy is probably missing the point of entertaining people, and helping them celebrate.
Unless you just meant you don't remember!
