birchi or someone else care to summarize? it is all a little over my head. I guess the conclusion is leopard is not secure for being connected to the internet as anyone could take control of your mac?
nik39 11:41 PM 30 October 2007
Yep. Due to known unfixed security holes and a firewall which does not work properly.

it is interesting to me that they have been working on it for so long and there can be these kinds of issues. should have skipped a few desktop backgrounds that they could have updated later...

even more interesting, i remember security problems with the iPhone too. Doesnt look like Apple is putting too much value in security

this is why I haven't jumped onto leapard yet....

There's bugs in every initial programs release regardless of it being a PC or a MAC

Word. I try to avoid buying anything first generation, or anything that's newly released (unless I'm testing it).

^^^ AGREED!

a little more time seems like it would have been well spent. with the testing that goes into products like an OS you would have thought they would catch something like that...

maybe they teamed up with the guys who made Vista.
DJ-A 2:55 PM 31 October 2007
maybe they hired the unemployed people who were working on longhorn

That said, this release is feeling very solid so far. Very noticeable performance and memory use improvements, and all the new features seem to be working well. Some of them are even useful.

Nothing like the first release of Tiger, which was a real dog.
