theres this gig i have next month..but i found out today that theres gona be mostly rock fans...i normally play dancing music..like hip hop, techno ect.
the guy from the gig told me theres some harcore rock fans there...i never played rock through out the whole set.. should i just forget about fancy mixing..and just regular mixing since rock fans dont give a crap about there music..they just bang there heads or something like that...advice for a rock party?

the first thing you should do is let them know you normally don't play rock. ask them if thay can provide a playlist.

Goat Whore, Cradle of Filth, Slayer, Anal Mustard
i'd prefer classic rock, as much of a hip hop head i am, i listen to classic rock more often on down time.

p.s. - seriously, don't forget cindy lauper - they will love it!

wait dont rock bars usually have these things called "bands"........I would tell them that you dont play rock music for an all night set, and unless they can provide you with a playlist maybe they should find someone else.......
I dont see why DJ's take "every" gig they're offered..... sometimes its just not worth the money........I turn down shows all the time, because they dont fit my style. I wouldnt wat a client to pay me good money to have me do my thing and totally not fit into their event.

Ahh I see.well in that case then youve got yourself a predicament, you dont really have time research it, so tell your boy to give you some music.

I love being well balanced. I am a true hip hop head at heart but I've listened to rock my whole life as well.

sopranosupasta: not even the 70s/80s rock ?yeah, but i usually mash it up with a hip hop beat. I just dont like taking gigs that for 1) i dont want to do and 2) i dont think i could do as good or better than someone else.....thats why i dont do weddings and functions like that, the last thing i would want to do is ruin someones wedding day for saying their name wrong or something, at least at a club i can just rock the spot and go home.

You can grab some Rock/hip hop Mash-ups. Always works for me. It's important to be true to yourself, but try to please them too. It's a balancing act.
