I love this time of year. Football is going strong, basketball is starting, and baseball is ending. I'm just not a baseball fan. I like to play it, but watching it is just plain boring to me.

Same here I can't stand watching baseball. It is just as boring as golf to me. I will go to a game but never watch on tv not even the world series. IMO football and basketball are the most entertaining sports all around.

You gotta learn the pitches, the scenarios. the players. Watching every pitch and how it is executed is fun to watch.

I gotta admit, from listening to sports radio there are a lot of nuances to baseball that I didn't know about. I agree with you, there is a lot more to it than the average non-baseball fan realizes. I don't know it all, but I'm learning.

But still, there is stuff about Baseball that is funny to me. the pre-pitch rituals kill me. It's funny to watch the batter go through what he does before every pitch. Random batter:


Walk up to the plate
Give the pitcher the evil eye
Back away from the plate
Tap your cleats with the bat
Walk back up to the plate
Give the pitcher the evil eye again
Find a good position near the plate
Swing the bat 2-3 times
Adjust the helmet
Swing the bat again
Adjust the helmet again
Plant your feet
Do a little whirlly twirl of the bat while waiting on the pitch to come.

It's just funny to me. It's serious stuff to some people though. When looking at it on TV, it seems like it's built up to be such a tense moment. Damn, all you're doing is hitting a baseball....LOL. I'm just tripping, I realize, or I know that hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do.

I used to love to play baseball as a kid but I just can't watch it. There really isn't any strategy in baseball besides for the pitches the pitcher throws and maybe shift to the side of the field the hitter at the plate usually hits to. Plus there really isn't any creativaty and exciting plays except for maybe a diving catch. AND it's not really a team sport. You dont really need have good team chemistry just players to be good at their positions. That's why Barry Bonds can get away with being an asshole to his team and still win MVP.

Basketball used to be my favorite sport but I still like it. Sometimes it can get to be a individual sport when a player takes over.

I think Football is the greatest sport. It involves good team play, strategy, and good players. Like you can't have a good receiver without a good QB and a good QB is nothing without a good offensive line. Plus a good ass team is nothing without a good gameplan. The coaches in the NFL have more control over their players than any other league because they implement the gameplan and call the plays. No superstar player is bigger than their coach.

No way dude. The catcher has to be able to call the game and catch 98MPH fastballs, plus 64 MPH knuckleballs. The hitter also has to HIT those things.... he pretty much needs to make the decision to swing within 1 second.

Idk, double plays are pretty exciting. Strikeouts are exciting. Close plays. Nasty pitches on the corners...

Agree with Bonds comment, and will throw in A-Rod too.
But chemistry is absolutley essential. Look at the 2004 and 2007 redsox. So much chemistry and team dynamics. They get along on and off the field. Then look at the yankees. So many 'individual' players on that team. They're all there to do something great for THEMSELVES. Which is why they blew this year.
