I just planted my mk5 golf in a ditch (total write off!) and am now waiting on the insurance pay out coming through... The payout isn't going to be great and I don't want to go back on hire purchase for something pricier. That's when I thought of getting my dream classic car as they go for about £2000 for a reasonable one.

I've always wanted a mk1 Golf, but just a bit worried about the reliability, especially as I drive quite a bit for work. Anyone have any experience? part prices? insurance cost? services? etc

Any help would be great!!
