Mastering a vinyl rip

I hope i'm allowed to do this. If not i'll remove my post.
I'm using my tech 12s (mk2s) with a Shure M97xE cart and my 57SL to rip some vinyl. I've followed the instructions in the new forum section. I uploaded one of my rips to zshare. It's in its original state after the rip. I haven't done anything to it.

plain white ts vs. jagged edge - lets get married delilah full delilah mix.wav - 39.63MB
I'm hoping that someone who uses Sound Forge can download the file and make it sound as good as possible. Then pm me how they did it. Maybe create a word file with screen shots of the settings you used. I've tried screwing around with "audio restoration","the dynamics tab", "wave hammer" and the paragraphic eq...just not sure which one is the best or which one i should be using.
I know this is alot to ask but i'm hopin someone can help out. I've read a ton of info on the net but i still don't know if i'm getting the sound I should be.
thanks in advance
peace

I just gave a listen.
I just listen on my computer speakers, but it sounds fine to me. Honestly, unless I hear crazy clicks and hiss, I leave my recordings alone.

ya it's pretty clean...i just thought that i might be able to make it a little more crisp.
i scanned the levels in sound forge and it gave me a peak value of -2.6 db and an RMS of -19.7db. I was just thinking that I should hit it with Wave Hammer or normalize it to bring the levels up a bit...
any thoughts?

if you ripped it from the same vinyl I did, that recording is kind of like that. except my RMS was about -17.2db and peaking at -0.9.
Was it from the lethal weapon promotional vinyl?

ya same vinyl.
I didn't realize that when using the 57SL to rip you should be adjusting the level on the "recording" gain knob as well as the gains on the channel. I read a good post about that a couple of days ago. I'm going to try rippin' it again with the recording knob at the 2 or 3 oclock position instead of 12 oclock. That should give me a louder sound without clipping.

i usually do a normalize of rms first to the standard music level (pull down menu). then i normalize the track to peak 0 or -.05. if it needs wave hammer, i'll add smooth compression or very little at all. the system you play on should take care of the overly bassy tracks, not the track itself. try to keep you files as clean as possible.
