Support the Mixed In Key's writing of the Key Field for MP4 videos!

I can scan all my videos, but SSL doesn't support the Key Field for the metadata info written by Mixed In Key. It only supports it on MP3's.

Just did a test on something...

I scanned in the audio (mp3) of a video using Mixed In Key... it wrote the Key info in the Key field... no problem.. ScratchLive sees that.... no problem... so I copy that info into the video's Key field... it shows up... no problem... I then move that video to another hard drive for another computer to open it up... Key field... empty.... problem

+1 And support for all fields, just like mp3s.

Pretty sure this is because MP4 files don't actually HAVE an initial key tag, so in fact MIK is not writing to that non-existent tag in the first place.

I'd love to see it implemented but I think it would involve some kind of collab between MIK and Serato.

Actually I asked them first before bringing to the attention here... they said that MIK actually DOES write to that field on the MP4 and Serato isn't able to read what was written there by their software.. it is a Serato issue.

Ok cool, I bow to your superior research! ;)

Ya mik mp4 key tag is works in all dvs apart from Serato so i was told.

phatbob is correct in saying that there isn't a defined key tag for .mp4 files, but the de facto standard is the com.apple.iTunes:initialkey atom.

Serato dev Glenn M already stated that it is planned to apply com.apple.iTunes for tags in a future update of SL/ITCH.
It's just a matter of time since Serato dev team seems to have this on a high priority.

In the meantime, I am using the comment field to hold KEY data for all my files - mp3 and mp4. If I want to harmonic mix an mp3 and mp4 I need to be able to sort all my files. It's a little annoying but will do for now. I'm just glad I figured it out before my MIK analyzed library became very large.
