FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PIONEER PROFESSIONAL REFERENCE DJ MIXER
SEAMLESSLY BLENDS AUDIO AND VIDEO SVM-1000

Transforms the Art of DJ’ing for a Complete Audio/Video Experience

LONG BEACH (October 4, 2007) Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
Professional Sound and Visual Division today unveiled the SVM-1000, the world’s first reference audio and video combination mixer designed for elite DJs, VJs and club venues to enhance their audio/video performance and provide their patrons and fans with an all encompassing sensory experience.
In addition to mixing audio and video, the SVM-1000 mixer incorporates a
built-in 11-inch LCD touch-panel display, symmetric channel layout,
4-channel audio and video inputs, Still Image Sampler and hundreds of combinations of video effects. Features and audio mixing capabilities of the SVM-1000 are similar to the industry standard Pioneer DJM-1000/800 mixers, which give DJs and VJs the creative freedom to easily build and create synchronized visual effects to accompany their audio mix for a complete entertainment encounter.

“Traditionally, the roles of DJs and VJs were separate the DJ mixes the music while the VJ controls the visuals - their performances awkwardly
coordinated with one another. With the SVM-1000 the audio and visual
effects are seamlessly controlled in one master area,” said Matt Dever, vice president of sales and marketing for Pioneer’s Professional Sound and
Visual Division. “Best of all, operation of audio and video mixing are
done similarly to our popular DJM audio mixers making the SVM-1000 an easy transition for any DJ and/or VJ.”

The SVM-1000 mixer was designed to easily integrate into a club
environment’s DJ booth due to its physical traits. The face of the mixer incorporates a “channel symmetric layout” featuring an 11-inch LCD touch panel in the center of the mixer. With a quick touch of the screen, video manipulation follows the audio with fluid transition.

SVM-1000 Features Include:
Multiple Video Blending Technology
DJs can synchronize audio and video with up to four sources simultaneously.
Each of the four channels features independent fading and equalization for traditional mixing techniques. The mixer is also capable of sound-only or visual-only control for creative mixing according to the DJ/VJ style. For enhanced visuals of any mix, the cross fader is capable of various video effects such as FADE, WIPE and CHROMAKEY.

Audio Video Effect Function
An Audio Video Effect function enables the user to fully synchronize audio and video effects utilizing a built-in 11-inch touch-panel LCD display.
With up to 30 built-in audio and video effects, users have the ability to quickly create exciting visual treatments orchestrated to music. When video isn’t available from a source, such as a CD, the DJ can still create a visual performance through pre-loaded graphics and images accessed from an animated on-screen icon for quick selection.

Pioneer SVM-1000 Mixer pg. 2

AV Beat Effect: The mixer automatically detects the tempo of the music and
synchs it with the video content. Twelve beat effects are available
including Delay, Echo, Pan, Transformer, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Reverb, Robot, Chorus, Roll and Reverse Roll which can also be combined with other visual effects such as Inverse, Edge and Hue for numerous arrangements.
AV Touch Effect: Taking advantage of the large touch-screen display, users can quickly access 12 touch effect patterns including Ripple, Lens, Spot,
Radiation, Cube, Block, Kaleidoscope, Twist, Zoom, Drop, Blur and
Distortion. Each effect contains four parameters to create different
variations on the screen.
Text Effect: Custom text messages can also be displayed to the tempo of the music in various beat-linked expressions. Six text patterns are available including Random, Zoom, Block, Rotation, Crush and Slide which can also be inputted through its built-in USB connection.

JPEG Viewer Function
The SVM-1000 lets users incorporate their own images and photos from an external memory device for use in their performance through a SD slot and
USB connection. Its “Still Image Sampler” further enhances visuals by
mixing images, such as logos of DJs, events or sponsors with videos or other still images with the ability to loop and play them as a slide show.

Audio and Video Quality

Audio: The mixer employs 96 kHz / 24-bit digital sampling and a 32-bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for the highest quality audio. The SVM-1000 integrates various features to maximize audio quality: high rigidity chassis for minimizing unnecessary vibration, dual-shield structure for eliminating digital noise and high performance / low noise power supply for clean and powerful sound.
Video: The video signal input through the Analog to Digital Converter is image processed at 600MHz / 32-bit / 4800MIPS (Million Instructions per
Second) to maintain high dynamic range and minimized noise resulting in accurate and clear visuals.

Other Performance Features Include:
Video Trim: Enables adjustment of brightness for each input video channel
Video EQ: Assignment of video parameters such as RGB, contrast, hue or
saturation allows equalization and synchronization of audio and video Fader Start: Allows the cross fader to start other Pioneer players Fully Assignable MIDI: Control of external MIDI equipment such as effectors or DJ/VJ computer software Video Monitor Select: One touch on-screen video selection

The SVM-1000 will be available in February 2008 with a manufacturers suggested retail price of $5,999.

and for the low low price of 6k HA
clore46 3:48 PM - 4 October, 2007
I think pinoeer is slowly pricing themselves out of the video market. Who has an extra $6000 for a a/v mixer??? Between 2 dvj's and this mixer I can by a car!!!
Konix 3:49 PM - 4 October, 2007
You know what they say, it takes money to make money.
DJUltimate 3:52 PM - 4 October, 2007
It's being marketed as a club mixer. Basically a video version of the DJM-1000.

Yep! And MSRP means you should be able to get that around $5K easily. Compare that to what you'd use otherwise for similar specs - DJM 800 or DJM 1000 (~$1500 or $2000)+ VSW-1 ($400) + Edirol V-4 ($1000) and see if the one piece and the additional features are the worth the extra money. I think I'll be going for this...
Konix 4:43 PM - 4 October, 2007
Take all the video stuff out of this mixer and make it audio only, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. My dream 4 channel DJM-909.

Yes, quite a few actually, but no where near the amount the 909 has.
DJUltimate 6:32 PM - 4 October, 2007
The svm-1000 doesn't have nearly as many audio effects as the 909 either.
Konix 6:40 PM - 4 October, 2007
I know, but I'm willing to bet Pioneer will make a 4 channel audio only version of this mixer with that nice colored touchscreen.

I think I should be back in town, im totally there, should I bring some women with me so you can play with one as well?....btw read the other post yeah that ssooo funny with Tao same thing they tried the low ball with me as well. Its Vegas the bars are making 150K on a bad night.
dj hoodat baller 4:58 AM - 5 October, 2007
Thats a sick mixer
DJMark 7:21 AM - 5 October, 2007
So let's see: $6,000 for the mixer, $3,000 each for the DVJ players. $12,000 total for just the decks and mixer.

And to think we have some people who've complained about the announced $200 for the Serato Video add-on... LOFL.

For $6,000, one would think Pioneer could have done better than the same cheap plasticky-looking knobs and switches they use on their low-end mixers. Okay, the touchscreen looks cool (long-term durability under real-life use is an open question though, as is the costs of any servicing that might be needed...well, actually we know from experience that Pioneer will royally ream users for service and repairs), but the pricing is absurd and I confidently predict this thing will be "white elephant" status within a few years. Especially since they seem to have made no provisions for HD video at all.

Count me as extremely unimpressed, all things considered.

well you say its expensive, I don't think so.

At the club I'm resident we use DVD since 2 years back. Two dancefloors and one without DVD. (in Sweden)

Booth 1: 3x DVJ-X1, DJM-1000, EFX-1000 and roland V4 video mixer, 4 12" monitorn.

Booth 2: 3x DVJ-X1, DJM-800 and roland V4 video mixer, 4 12" monitorn.

That cost total per booth are i belive more than 2 DVJ-1000 and the new SVM-1000 mixer. So don't compare it to a regular DJ setup. We will get the mixer asap when it's released.

Ever tried to compare the money you have to spend on a TTM57+video setup?
DJ Eighty 8 1:26 PM - 5 October, 2007
"U gotta spend money 2 make money"..........here's a prediction 4 U guys. Video DJ's drop a shit load of cash on this type of gear....that's cool....now U guys R looking 2 make your money back right? U video DJ's will eventually price yourselves outta business. Unless your a MAJOR club and I do mean MAJOR, I can't C the average Joe having this shit. Let's be honest clubs come and go all the time and if that happens....most of us still love the music and we keep it movin'. $15,000.00 worth of TECHNICAL shit sitting in your garage/basement/bedroom doing nothing is crazy. Video DJin' is PART of the future, not THE future. Again $15,000.00 is down right silly, let's re-open this thread a year from now and I'm sure the results will be the same....maybe 500 units sold? CDJ/digital DJ's R just becoming popular and CDTT have been out 4 how long? I lie spending money too......$15,0000.00 just for the mixer and decks + tax, cables, screens, video, good truss system, top notch surge protectors, etc........? I mean come on?.......
DJUltimate 3:45 PM - 5 October, 2007
Again guys... it's a "CLUB MIXER" It's not built for transport and it's not priced for the average consumer. This thing is huge, yould need a custom case or coffin to move it around so you can add that to the cost. Clubs that have video capability will not even think twice about the price.
Pulse 4:47 PM - 5 October, 2007
Mark, standard DVD isn't HD and Pioneer doesn't have HD-DVJs... besides, if you've ever seen Fergie without her makeup, you wouldn't want to see her in HD with 2 inches of spackle on her face to hide that leathery smile.

It's not expensive if you consider what it can do, plus it's the first of its kind... it's a monster! :)

i really, REALLY don't think a Blu-ray or HD DVD DVJ is in our near future. I mean, the entire Eco system of music videos is just not on that track or probably moving that way anytime soon.

Without HD music videos, making HD DVJs is somewhat pointless. It's not like people are watching Transformers in HD on their DVJ.

Yes I know what an upscaler is. Yes I realize the built in visuals would look better with HD output. Yes I'm still saying HD output from this mixer is pointless.

Interesting you mention that. Once you look past the "wow" factor, the features it offers are quite limited in terms of being a "club mixer". No external effects/processing loop, no insert points for the mic inputs, and no auxiliary inputs or outputs at all. Compare the audio connectivity to that of a Rane MP-44, for example.

As far as HD video, the point there is not what's available *today*, it's that on a $6,000 "flagship product" one would hope there'd be at least the provision to use it in the future. To me the appeal of HD versus standard-def on large screens is pretty obvious: something akin to the difference between AM radio and CD's.
DJ Eighty 8 9:10 PM - 5 October, 2007
"It's a club mixer"..........no such thing! It's still marketed to the consumer. The 800 is a "club mixer" too and if any of the chain music centers carrry this or can order it then it's just a high priced mixer to me. Video is cool and I know if you bought all the other stuff it would cost more or equal. Do know the difference?.........all the other gear you can wheel and deal with, bargin and get used. This thing is just......$6,000 and hope one section of the mixer doesn't go. That's one of the things that turns me off about the 57....all in one!

Elite DJ's/VJ's can afford it and so can clubs. If it's too expensive, don't buy it. Bitching about the price isn't gonna make it any cheaper. Anybody who would actually utilize all the features of the mixer would be happy to pay the price. Not to mention 6k, is the MSRP. When was the last time you bought anything at MSRP?? It's always cheaper than that.
DJ Grandpa 9:54 AM - 6 October, 2007
Buying DVJ stuff is expensive and vill be, it's advanced technoligy. Look at Numarks atemt to build a DVJ player, it's a "home DVD player" with fancy buttons, I tested it and no way in h**l I can use them in a club. Pioneer is for now the only option for DVJ (Pro DVJ's) and therefor they can charge for there products.

But I'm very exited to get my hands on Serato 1.8 and the video plugin (I have an 57)and test it in the club.

I've tested VirtualDJ, that play video very well, but is no pro product, feel like more lika a toy, press "automix" and go avay, thats not for me as a pro DJ/VJ.

Thanks!
