As some of you may know, I got the 57 a week before my birthday but really I haven't had any real time to test it out besides just practice some mixing. I hadn't even messed with the effects or any of the controls for Scratchlive......
Now I've tried them all. I didn't even read the manual... yet. hahahah I figured just about everything. :)
It's a damn cool mixer. I can already see myself getting away from my laptop (except when searching for a song) which is very cool.
I even tried recording on my trusty old iBook G4 and had NO PROBLEMS.
:)
I will look around these part of the forum and see what I've missed.

Did you do the EFX efficiency workaround from the wiki?

I would be lost without that...

I will read the wiki and see what's up.
I'm like a sponge right now, absorbing knowledge on this side of the forum.

Read it. Thanks for the link. I will probably not be using due in part to the known issues.

you really should do the nik39 inspired effects trick. i have mine setup that way permanently so i can just turn on efx with the FlexFx button without switching groups constantly and all that nonsense.

It really isn't that hard to switch between groups. Come on now. lol
And the benefit doesn't compensate for the downfalls... aka known issues.

it really is a pain to switch between groups, especially in 100 darkness or you forget which group you're in. this really should be a feature anyway, to be able to trigger the effects with the flexFx buttons.
the only downfall that i know of, is the efx bus is shared with the mic and the aux in, and that does indeed suck

If you can push a few buttons in the dark, you can play dodgeball.
Is that how it goes? :P

I am still voting for the ability to map functions to the kill buttons. I *never* ever use them. It would be sooooo cool if we could use them to control the EFX a lil more.

I'm starting to use the kill buttons more and more. Every so often they come in handy.
the EFX took me the longest time to figure out! To this day I still fear using them during a gig. Last time I did the echo got stuck on and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off :(

Now that's a GREAT IDEA. :) I don't use either.
But I guess if I was Tiesto.. I could twist a knob (or in this case push a button) and do the look.
:P

Happened to me too man......It was the dam hold echo, i thought i had set it to reg echo but i guess i didnt and the echo didnt turn off even after i exited serato and turned off everything. Turning off the mixer as the only way, luckily it was dead when this happened, i started freaking out lol.

hey sixxx.....so does this mean you're using relative mode now??? =)
sixxx
12:19 AM - 8 October, 2007
Actually, I use absolute more than anything. Every so often I may switch to relative to do loops and what not, but abs is more fun.

Using the 57 without relative mode is like having sex without a partner OR an orgasm.
