Forum feature request: ignore feature

I know a bunch of forums have this. Would be great just see:
Dj Tecniq
"You are currently ignoring this user"
Of course the endless replies would still clog up the forum so a ban would also work.
It was funny before but it's obvious that some people can't have a discussion like normal human beings and that the rest of the forum can't leave it alone when some people say something blatantly wrong, stupid, or offensive (I'm guilty here too). Anyway some actually interesting threads are getting ruined in the process.

Im not sure an ignore feature is the best bet, mabye a feature where there is a ban option next to report and quote and if enough seperate users click it for a user it suspends the account?? This would also help with those bot add accounts that seem to be alll the rage now

I have the ignore feature in my mind.
I just ignore them. I use this for a couple of members. There's different types of people out there and I've come to accept that stupid is as stupid does. You can't change a zebra's stripes. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. And any other saying that applies to the stupid, stubborn and ignorant people.
All that being said, I do think Techniq set himself up to be the forum whipping boy and everyone is now taking full advantage of it. It's like everytime I see him make a comment, regardless of what he says, I already know what is going to follow. It's starting to get old now.

There's a technical solution to ignoring other forum users and there's a behavioral solution to ignoring other forum users.
One of these solutions is available right now and requires no additional input of time on my part. No prizes for guessing which solution I suggest...

dj_soo, if you are using Firefox I have the infamous doopid-ignore-script for you. You can configure which users you want to ignore. Works fine and was fun implementing. Let me know if you need/want it.
